He is basically just saying that economic hardships caused by climate change may be contributing to the disenfranchisement of a lot of people, especially young people, and that may be a big factor in the increase of people joining up with the likes of ISIS. That doesn't seem like that huge a stretch to me.

Nonsense.... Just trying to take people away from the real cause because of the fear of racism or the made up Islamophobia word.. Even though speaking the truth hurts sometimes, it`s not racism.

This very large group of individuals are doing this because this is what they want to do, not because they have to, and they are making Billions selling oil, selling artifacts, robbing, and selling drugs; not like they`re scraping by, working a 9-5 job like me. Plus I highly believe that when the Obama administration funded and trained them to take out Gadaffi in Libya and they succeeded they were ordered to take out Assad too and they became too big to control.

No it happened because some humans fall for this god crap then feel their duty to defend it.
Get rid of worlds gods. Oh and patriotism.
I'm a fan of Bill Nye, but agree with the OP - Nye is reaching. I like Callen's take. That is the real root of the issue. Been going on long before these more modern climate change issues.

I agree Nye may be stretching a bit but on the other hand, I'm a big believer in holistic approaches to viewing the root cause of any problem. Climate change has a wide spread affect on planetary ecosystems. Pollution has a planetary affect on ecosystems. Environmental degradation has broad reaching affects , etc, etc. I see no reason why anything that affects planetary ecosystems and natural cycles cannot also affect human behavior.

I think most of you are taking what he said just a bit too literally. He's not an idiot. He knows it's not just about climate change. He was obviously just throwing out a theory that may very well have a role in it. I didn't read that as him saying that that is the one and only cause or anything. As Brian said, he's talking in a holistic way.

This is what I got from it too. Not sure how anyone is having trouble with this.
