Why do we force this creepy old man on children again? It's like kids are brainwashed to love what terrifies them, lol.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata

^^^ Santa looks like he had too much egg nog!
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

We didn't force Santa. In fact, there was a year that we took K to see Santa, she freaked out and just did not want to go. She had just turned three. I told her that I wouldn't make her. My MIL was with me. "WELL, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO TELL HER WHEN SHE SEES SHE HAS A YEAR WITH NO SANTA PICTURE?!" "Um, that I didn't force her to sit on some stranger's lap and that Santa isn't the center of our Christmas season anyhow?" I took her down to Sears, had a coupon, told them exactly what I wanted them to do (because they had no clue) and I came out with the most awesome photos of her, all for the same price as Santa pictures. My MIL got a photo and was reasonable okay with it that year. The next year? She was just fine with him. The cutest picture ever. I would post it, but I don't post photos of my daughter anywhere with social media.

    You're a good mama :)

Ever-so-slightly related, somewhere around here within our albums is a pic of my sister and me, in our teens and high, out to brunch at RJ's with our dad. Lovely photo of us with the Easter Bunny with his hand firmly on my sister's boob.

And why did they find the creepy Santa mask to be okay? "Here kid, have a present before I eat your face off."
