Parachutes is terrible live, it s like watching paint dry. Wws on the other hand punches you right in the face. Love the five show montage from Italy 06. It s really an amazing song live.

Parachutes=watching paint dry ?? :hushed::wink: to each their own. I love parachutes. Beautifully unique and creative phrasing. My youngest kid commented once that it even sounds like a floating parachute on the breeze. Children hold nothing back they just speak the truth and often see/feel what adults can not.

Just for the hell of it I had my five kids listen to parachutes and watched their reactions..... They were disinterested and beyond bored. I then put on wws and they were all dancing about and asking me all about it. Obviously my Children held nothing back and confirmed what the masses think about parachutes.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me......

Ooh! Smack down! 5 against 1. I concede. Lol. Maybe my kid just has a sensitive soul. He does get a little crazy when I play habit though.

  • Sing it out loud every time.
Parachutes though is like facebook - appeals more to teenage girls and women.

I love the studio version of Parachutes - it's the most beatlesqe song in the cannon. Very uplifting as well. :)

I love WWS live on the 2006 boots! Ed's scream at the end of bridge is awesome on that tour. If memory serves correctly, Grand Rapids 06 has a good version. The end of the scream sounds cool on that one. Powerful song all around, timeless lyrics; sadly, as someone else noted too.

Grand Rapids 06 is one of the greatest boots ever!
... I am not in the business of being liked anymore ...

  • Not to derail, but the studio version of parachutes is a beautiful thing.

Life Wasted, WWS and Severed Hand are all EXTREMELY good songs in my opinion. Avocado is a lot like Lightning Bolt for me, half the songs I love but the other half I never listen to.

Spot on bud. Life wasted is an extremely underrated song imo. It kicked some serious ass when it closed set one at philly iv. (If memory serves me correct)
I heard it in Cleveland in 2010 and it kicked major ass then too, I think that might have been what really made me start loving the song.

Those are indeed the "big three" from the album for me. Severed Hand would have been a pretty solid single - better than Gone, anyway.
That decision always baffled me, especially considering how catchy Severed Hand is right off the bat. I like Gone but it took a long time to grow on me, Severed Hand was my instant favorite the first time I listened to the album.

WWS and Marker in the Sand are gems. Definitely should be played more. Waaaayy underplayed and I don't know why.

    Two of my favourites too!

  • I think Gone has aged the best. WWS is still a great rocker. The rest of the songs are sort of blurring or being replaced by other great songs in my head.

Parachutes is great, but could have had a strong chorus or something to make it feel more complete.

Never really liked Marker in the sand.

Unemployable is cool. Liked it a lot live.

Comeback feels overdone with the lyrics and stuff. Makes it a bit cheesy and you can feel how the band and Eddie wants it to be a bit too powerful.
