OP, I am not sure if you are looking for a sound improvement that doesn't exist to the human ear? I got caught up in this with the PONO last year and even though HD audio sounds amazing, I'm not sure you will obtain a set up where the record player is your primary source of sound/music output that you're going to hear things in music that you can't hear in other ways. Does that make sense?www.cluthelee.com0

I'd throw my vote in for the Denon DP-300/Ortofon Red deal if you want fully auto.

I have the Denon DP-300/Ortofon Red turntable also. couldn't be happier with this combo. a great deal from Needldoctor and they have really good customer service. if you have questions about anything, don't hesitate to call them. love that it's fully auto...a must have when you have a few kids at home.0

Since I have no idea what a protractor has to do with a turntable, I'm comfortable saying no, you don't need one for this turntable, lol! Yes, it was very easy to set up.
You'll be happy with it! .... What about your receiver and speakers? What do you have going there?

By protractor did you mean a 45 adapter? It comes with one. The downside is there's no little circle indent to rest it in when your not using it (my old crappy sony player had a proper spot to store in on one of the corners of the player.
I've always wanted to know why we need 45 adapters. I've never seen a player (old or new) that has a big pole in the centre for mounting 45's. I've noticed a few of the xmas singles have small holes for 45's. Why don't all 45's have small holes so we don't need the adapters?0 -
Good question! The big holes are useless (that's what he said).Zod said:By protractor did you mean a 45 adapter? It comes with one. Decided to google it. Apparently it was for jukeboxes. They had a hard time grappling and mounting the records on the smaller holes. It wasn't cost effective to press two versions (big hole for juke boxes and small hole for 45s). So all 45's were pressed with big holes. Given that vinyl jukeboxes are almost non-existent, why do we still get big holes?0

Good answer and another good question, lol. I guess at least the people out there with the vintage jukeboxes are pretty pleased.Zod said:Decided to google it. Apparently it was for jukeboxes. There are protractors out there for cartridge/headshell alignment, and no, you won't need one. You would only use something like that if you swap out your headshell or cartridge on your own. Order from needledoctor, they do all that for you prior to shipping. And as someone else mentioned, don't hesitate to call or email them with any questions you have. They're great people with excellent knowledge and they don't try to upsell you on something you don't want or need.Star Lake 00 / Pittsburgh 03 / State College 03 / Bristow 03 / Cleveland 06 / Camden II 06 / DC 08 / Pittsburgh 13 / Baltimore 13 / Charlottesville 13 / Cincinnati 14 / St. Paul 14 / Hampton 16 / Wrigley I 16 / Wrigley II 16 / Baltimore 20 / Camden 22 / Baltimore 24 / Raleigh I 25 / Raleigh II 25 / Pittsburgh I 250
