The long awaited trailer for the Cedell Davis delta blues documentary is finally here. And as some of you might know, CeDell's album, Last Man Standing, is on the GRAMMY selection ballot for best blues album of 2015. You will see many familiar faces in this film: Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, Barrett Martin of Screaming Trees, Zakk and Big Papa Binns, Annie Jantzer, Jimbo Mathus, Ayron Jones and The Way, Scott McCaughey of the Minus 5 & REM, Jack Endino, Skerik, Dave Carter, Evan Flory Barnes, Johnny Stephens, and many others. Filmed in Mississippi and Seattle on 2 stages and 1 recording studio - The White Water Tavern, The Crocodile, and Avast Studios in Seattle. Have a look at the trailer below, its pretty awesome.

Mississippi, Where It All Began.
After 6 weeks in Brazil, a little adventure in the Amazon, I found myself back in the Mississippi delta less than a week after returning to Seattle. I went there to mix the new CeDell Davis album and film soundtrack (featuring a cast of Seattle rockers) and the mission was very successful. The soundtrack is done, mixed, and sounds exceptional, and it'll all be coming out later in the fall. Here are a few shots from the land where American music first got started. I love it down there.
At Dial Back Sound, Water Valley, Mississippi mixing the CeDell Davis album and film soundtrack with Bronson Tew, soon to be the new proprietor of this superb, vintage studio. Highly recommended.

My essay on the making of the new CeDell Davis album "Even The Devil Gets The Blues" is now up on Huffington Post, with a full stream of the album! The album features several Seattle and Arkansas musicians sitting in and doing duets with CeDell including Mike McCready, Scott McCaughey, Ayron Jones, Annie Jantzer, Greg & Zakk Binns, Johnny Stephens, Van Conner, Evan Flory-Barnes, Denadre Enrio, and Alex Veley. CeDell Davis has a brand new album coming out on October 14th titled "Even The Devil Gets The Blues." I produced the album and played drums, along with a bunch of very special guest musicians like Mike McCready, Scott McCaughey, Skerik, and many others. CeDell is playing a big homecoming show in Helena, Arkansa, one of the birth places of delta blues, and they even painted an entire building with a mural of him.
