We had seven cameras shooting two tapes each for all 72 shows [a total of 1008 tapes] so it saved us a lot of time to have the data converted right in the camera.”

From the Riot Act World tour.

Aside from putting Pearl Jam dangerously close to Grateful Dead in terms of size of archive, do you think, or do you wish (and if you do, what?) there were more DVD releases of the band playing?

And that leads to point two: I know there was mention of the high-tech cameras in itally, but reading the article above, it seems that they record with 3 hand held cameras atleast for the entire tour, so possibly we could get a Showbox quality DVD from any of the shows since 2000.

Does anyone know for certain what the video recording was like this tour for the rest of the tour? Hand helds for all shows?

  • Yeah, for Italy there was a professional crew hired to film for what is probably gonna be an official release. But since the beginning, they've filmed every show as far as i know. If they released a random show from over the years, it'll probably be similar to TB2K or Live at the Garden in terms of camerawork.

I don't think that they film every show. Atleast I saw no cameras at Bern or Berlin. No pro cams, no handheld cams,no nothing.I was pretty much at the front for both shows and I'm sure I would have noticed any cameras. In Arnhem though I saw 2 pro cams which made the video for the big screens. One in front of Mike and one at the soundboard.

ahh fair enough, i thought it was every show. I've read lots of posts this year from US fans who saw cameras at most of the shows, maybe not for Europe then.

I noticed the crew filming only portions of Adelaide 1, didn't see anything at Adelaide 2 (doesn't mean they weren't there though).

I recall seeing someone film Alive on the first night and they'd walk up to the front now and then throughout the show and shoot a bit of footage then disappear.

Better than Showbox quality. TB2K was all shot with 3 handheld digitals.
As for what I saw, I was only at Dublin and all I saw was one handheld camera in the press pit

As far as I can work out with TB et al, there is a camera at the back, a camera in front and one to the side.

At adelaide I saw the one up the back (In the lighting scafolding above the main crowd) and the the one at the front, so I can only asume the side one was there as well.

I'm just giddy at the thought of maybe Don't Gimme No Lip being included as a bonus feature from Adelaide eh?
