Wow Dave...I never knew you liked kittens so much!

I think Hoff is still a member, it would be worth PM'ing him.

My number one in going the DIY route, make sure you get acid free backings and mats (if you want mats) , it may be a bit pricier now, but unless you like your posters discolored or stained go ahead and get the cheap frames. I wouldn't let a HL or Michael's touch my posters with a 10 foot pole, I've heard many horror stories.

I was just in Sarajevo on vacation and a friend was getting a picture framed at a local shop. Showed the lady a picture of something I have had done for a poster(2 mats, cutout for ticket, etc) and was quoted under $50 US....lol. I should have packed all of my posters although getting them back to the States might have been a problem.

 Sorry about all of the kitten pix!!

I got a message from Photobucket that my storage was getting low, so I had to delete a bunch of images.
When I was doing that...I decided to organize what I had left, and moved all of my framed posters to one subfolder, breaking all of the links I had previously posted.
I'm working on a photobucket "story" with all of my framed gig posters...when I get it finished, I'll post the link here!!

    Those look really great Dave!
Hope you don't mind if I show the pics to a DIY frame shop for inspiration when I get a few of mine done! :)

I love the floating framless look. Any comments? Bad idea? Not enough protection?

Not enough protection at all. But... If you like it and are okay with it, rock it out. It is a great look.

Whats the rule of thumb for frame mounting posters so you don't ruin them..."avoid dry mount"?

Dry mounting is applying a glue to the back of the poster and to the backing that you have to stick it to. In college, I did this with products like rubber cement or Super 77. After dry, you then permanently adhere the two pieces together. There may be archival products to do this. (Neither rubber cement nor Super 77 would be archival.) However, dry mounting is permanent, at least in all applications I did it. I would not suggest it.

@dead that is a single pane one they have double pane...better? Are you thinking fading?

I'm afraid about the areas unprotected. If you rolled with it, double pane would be your better option. You still have unprotected edges, but that would be a lot less than having a full open back. You can see that better in the diagram that they provide.

Foxy, If you buy those acrylic frames, know that you need to use an acrylic cleaner to clean them. No paper towels. No window cleaner. Acrylic scratches very easily. A soft cloth/old t-shirt would work well.

    Hey good looking out dead!

I'm making plans to frame my Fleet Center Rehearsal and my Kong

I just can't imagine a frame like that would damage anything
