A good idea I had about free time

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about making good use of any free time I have. I've noticed that it's easy to waste it on nothing...nothing like reading nonsense on Facebook or just watching tv or anything unproductive really...

So, I've been making idea cards for myself. Then, when I notice I have time, I have lots of ideas for good ways to spend it. Things I want to do. Then, it's just a matter of looking through them for what I'm in the mood to do.

Do you have any good ideas about fun ways to spend your time? What do you like to do when you have a choice?

    What's free time?

    Eta...

Sorry just not in a place in my life where that exists too much! Love your idea though. When I have a few moments free, like waiting for something else to get done.... I come here. It's been fewer and farther between though these days

    You did not, Ani.

Free time? I can condense time down more and get to do more fun things like laundry and house cleaning! Seriously, I would to do better to spend more time in the studio.

This. There is no such thing as "free time", just time I'm spending doing nothing when I should be doing other stuff.

I think it's healthy to just chill and enjoy those pockets of idleness. Play with your pets, watch the landscape and the environment around you (with or without binoculars), sit back and think, digest. Catch a sunrise. Close your eyes.

My mom is one of those who's never been one to simply sit and relax. Always filling her time with something, anything, and in her old age it seems she's missed out in ways. Self-reflection is skewed under pressure; it needs to brew, it requires undistracted time and effort.

In many ways we're alike, but I'm thankful her mistakes became my strengths.

Not to put down your idea at all, justam. Whatever gets you to the light, it's alright :)

I keep pretty busy with work but when have free time (i.e., non-work time) I spend time here, listen to music, play guitar, write, watch movies, and play hearts, chess or spider solitaire on my computer ... which all sounds good except the latter which is probably not the best use of free time (though it helps when I feel the need for distraction).

Yeah, my thinking is right along Hedo's lines. But ditto on the last line. Whatever works for you. I personally love my idle time - I don't see it as wasted time. Movies, books, music, news, internet, rest, watching the world, contemplating ... For me it's necessary, and i made a specific point to allow time for it.

It's new for me to have free time so I don't want to waste it!

I used to be so busy working all the time but now I actually have weekends open and evenings open like other people!
