I take this news with a grain of salt... as Sun media corp are quite biased.

That said... this swings both ways and it always does.  Just look at Papa Trump and Co.  If it fits his narrative, he supports companies and is whole heartedly against 'cancel culture' ... but when it doesn't he literally advocates for boycotting. Complete double standard. And please don't think for two seconds that it wouldn't go this way for the freedom convoy.  If Tim Horton's decided tomorrow to post an anti freedom convoy message....  the pro freedom convoy folks and meltdown would be shouting from rooftops to not drink Tim Hortons coffee ever. It would be absolutely naive to think that that's not correct.

I agree with you in this case though. The David's Tea thing in particular.  My butcher advocated for this freedom convoy and offered them free food...  I found a different butcher within ten minutes but I didn't feel the need to post a bunch of crap on their social media pages or harass them.  Like it's my choice and that's it.

It the wife of a fellow who owns 15% of a company (David's Tea) supports the freedom convoy... I think it's thoughtless and ignorant to start campaigning against the company as a whole.  She's free to do that. (I think it's stupid) And if you don't like it that much, feel free to not support them.  Going beyond that to harm the company sort of puts you in a similar category as the freedom convoy folks in my book.

I strongly agree with pretty much everything you wrote there, I especially like what you said about just living by your values and not needing to bother or harass those of different views. Sadly as you said it does go both ways and people on all sides (not all obviously) for some reason feel the need to impose their views on others (I’ve probably been guilty both here and in real life if even just by my tone, despite my belief that no one gets to tell anyone what to think).

Personally I’ve never been a fan of name-and-shame campaigns, they do seem a bit Spanish Inquisition/McCarthy-esque (“No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!”).

Saw on the ticker today that truckers crossing the border with medical supplies will be exempt from the mandate. I’m so confused, lol!

And I’m sorry but Trudeau owes Lantsman an apology on the floor (and the record) of the House. Doesn’t make him an anti-semite but he’s a huge asshole.

Been in and out of the proceedings today, interesting points on all sides but still no compelling case for the Emergencies Act.

Crap, I’m starting to spam, sorry, but it was just stated one of the Ottawa protest leaders has been arrested, then I did a search and saw this. Hmmm, vote will happen as the authorities clean up outside with the protesters in jail?

Edit to add a shot of a supposedly live shot of Ottawa, doesn’t look like it’s going down right now, lol. Found the Parliament Hill webcam first.

Seems one side is required to take the high road while the other has no such expectation or desire. I love the Q and A aspect of your parliament and don’t quite understand why some consider it a waste of time? Maybe if they were debating or arguing a topic wholly unrelated to the issue?

A waste of time might be considered the house using the opening of each session for every member who so desires the opportunity to rant about anything for one minute or members of the senate to take the floor and discuss Greek history during debating like Senator Byrd of West Virginia was known to do. I wonder what is considered the most civil deliberative democratic political body in the world?

i consider it a waste of time. it's nothing but political theatre. imagine if I could go to work and spend half my day trying to one up another department while my department sits behind me clapping and HERE HERE ing while actually doing no work. it's all just trying your best to get a sound bite on the evening news. maybe i'd put more stock in it if it weren't video recorded.

Monty Python lives as I watch a local Toronto news channel provide better live coverage than the national news channels of arrests beginning in Ottawa, which is set against the backdrop of the House Of Commons debating the powers on which these arrests will likely be based in a room (and virtually) hundreds(?) of metres from the arrests. Except in the end this isn’t funny, so it’s not really Python. I need another puff, lol.

If Trudeau comes out with an entourage of military, police and party officials and holds up a Bible upside for a photo op without muttering a word like POOTWH, then I'll be impressed.

Yup, only started watching recently. One side asks questions, the other answer with same scripted BS.  Prob the same way when PCs were in power.

CB, I know most don't agree, she is showing strength in her questioning.  Impressive actually.

So, the NDPs are saying the will support JT in regards to the EMA vote, you think this destroy future support for the party? I think it will.

Also, how much clout does the cdn civil liberties association have? Court now damn. Courts tied up for years over this.

I know you guys said it before and disagree, that discussions were pointless, but it would have a step in the right direction imo.
