And so kastens made of sand fall in the sea (eventually).

I get the burnout when some time without a holiday or early close has passed.

Or, as imalive so eloquently put it, fours hour a day :cow:

August was hell for me and I felt like at the brink of a burn out. I basically worked 18 hours a day, no weekend, no day off. It was tough, but I survived.

Also, what is a sand kasten? There is a German word, Sandkasten, which is a sand box that kids play in. Is that the English word too?

Leeze, we joke about the sandkasten but it's not an English word. Do you remember the thread with Stefan, the non-delivered vinyl, and the poster tubes full of air?? I can never find the link when I want it, but if I come across it I'll post it for you; it was pure gold.

When there is constant talking...especially by loud people. :hushed:
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

Brutal, Leeze! Way to tough it out though!

Mentally, I rarely burn out but have been known to space out a bit. Physically, whenever the back, knees, wrists, elbows, shoulders or any combination of the above give out. That's when I burn a little longer although once I burned so hard I broke into tears. That was a bit weird but it was also telling me something.

This is about the only time that my job pisses me off. 7 of us in cubicles in the same room. Everyone else starts talking about something I have no interest in. Or watching you tube videos together. Can't hear myself think. :anguished:

When you wake up feeling nothing but dread about the day ahead of you and you can barely resist calling in sick even though you're not. When you feel like that, it's obviously time for a change! Been there.... luckily I made it to the light at the end of that fucking tunnel!

 I remember one of the Stefan threads. I was embarrassed and amused at the same time

Anybody else having days with "mail box anxiety" when you don't want to open your email program because you fear a cascade of requests is coming in?

My system to keep a cool head in my high times is my email program, a magnet board calendar, a paper calendar, a note pad for the currents tasks of the week and then a current projects notepad. Somehow I seem to feel more at ease if I write stuff down so I can read it again and again and again. In August, I woke up during the night because I feared I had forgotten stuff. It was pretty much insane.

Leeze, sometimes I alleviate the anxiety by checking work email from home once in a while.

...but you work from home if I recall correctly?

And I live by post-its and reminders.

Yes, I work from home. I have a huge wooden boss desk from the 40's named Walter that is giving me a good base, I can hit it, lay my head on it in disbelief or just lean back and admire its beauty  Post-its wouldn't work for me, they would fly all over the place. I have an awesome fountain pen that I love to write with and I use only those weird yellow notepads. We don't have them in Germany, and I somehow get pleasure from writing on them  I'm a total paper person, just not for my subtitling work.

Anytime a certain senile co worker of mine whines or becomes an annoying twat which is most of the time. Seriously, this guy is 25-30 years older than me yet he acts like an immature brat. Older don't always mean wiser.

I work with the public and sick people who are no picnic when they come into the office. I know I need a vacation when I want to tell them to stop whining, complaining and being babies...yea, it's time for a break.
Thank you fellow 10 clubber for saving my ass....again!!!
