I used to watch Cathouse (HBO doc about that brothel). Interesting stuff.

Sad when someone fairly young - or even not - goes through something like this.

Guess he was doing a lot of herbal Viagra? From what I've read, anyway.

Doesn't that REALLY show where those Karcrashians put what's more important to them. Lamar seems to be a real nice dude but appears to be ending up like his father. I wish him well.

It's so sad, what I heard on the news at lunch was that he was doing like 10,000$ a day worth of cocain...and that's what left him unconscious and unresponsive....hope he pulls through...

  • I used to have season tickets to URI basketball and got to see Lamar play in a small field house, Keaney Gym for one season. It was his redemption season after being declared ineligible at UNLV. He was also Coach Harrick and assistant coach Jerry Digregario's savior as the previous year taking the team 64 seconds from the final four was inherited from Coach Skinnner. Harrick convinced URI to take a chance on him. I'll never forget his game winning three pointer as time wound down to win us the A-10 tourney and send URI to the NCAA tourney for the second straight year, although URI went one and done.

It must be difficult for a kid to come from a broken family and navigate the sleaze of college basketball from the users, hanger ons, and coaches who don't care about you except for your play. Lamar always had a smile, was soft spoken and stayed out of trouble. He took his chance seriously and made the best of it. He was rumored to be working out on campus last year at an attempt to make a come back.

I wish him well, hope he recovers and gets some semblance of a good life back. I'll never forget his play in 3000 seat Keaney Gym and his game winning three pointer in the A-10 tourney that left Pepe Sanchez absolutely stunned. Get well Lamar.

There are reports that they will charge him if he tests positive for blow. Because that's what you do with a dude who overdosed. That's exactly what a drug user like that needs. Fucking America.

sorry, couldn't resist. I remember some of the guys Tark brought in. I do wish Lamar the best.

on a related note, I remember a lovable guy UNLV had....Richie Adams....everyone loved him....he left UNLV and was later convicted of murder in NYC.

I believe UNLV questioned his grades from the prep school or junior college or the NCAA clearing house did. It was a big deal because after he left, URI discovered that Harrick and his son, with a roll on the team, routinely gave answers to exams and gave bullshit multiple choice exams for their phys ed classes the players took. Test questions like, how many points is a free throw worth? It was a major embarrassment for the program, particularly after Coach Skinner made graduating his players the #1 priority and did so.

Nice Rhody story. St. Joe's guy here. Saw Lamar play against my Hawks and watched that A10 final. Always remember that shot to beat Temple in the final. Just past half court, dribbles up and calmly nails about a 35 footer at the immortal Philadelphia Spectrum. Just awesome.

For all the craziness with his college eligibility and whatever has happened in his adult life always thought he came across as a really nice guy. Hope he recovers but doesn't look good.
