There have been a significant number of festival sets that had proven to be pretty strong. Examples would be OSL 2009 and Jazzfest 2010.High Fidelity 2000 said:
They definitely make a ton of money off festivals, and a lot is already provided for them. I really hope they play some neighboring states. I'm torn not going one state up to Telluride but already bought Wrigley tickets, haven't heard of any of the other bands to have to purchase a two day ticket to, and let's be honest it will be a 2 hour hits heavy show (never been a fan of festivals). Great setting, I'm sure. But a 2 hour show preceded by bands I've never heard of and a long drive.Ryan said:mcgruff10 said:ride festival. july 8, 9, 10. now what other dates will fill around it?

Exactly. There's no way they are lugging everything to Telluride, CO and not stopping elsewhere in that area of the country.Rapone77 said:
Add the 8/20 Wrigley date and it looks very weird. I just looked at every tour date since 2000 and they haven't had any random breaks in touring like this before. The dates are always clusters of several shows.SVRDhand13 said:How weird does this look?

I disagree with these posts. Pearl Jam is probably making as much, or more money, from Bonaroo, Colorado, Fenway and Wrigley as they would with an entire 10 or 12 show leg. Also add in the merch overload for the ball park shows.
I think they are treating these summer shows similar to 2012 where it was just a series of one-off shows.I have no patience for bad music and stupid people...

I used to think the same thing, remembered back to 2009 today... they're playing Austin City Limits! No way they'll just play Austin without playing something on the way... wrong... in fact they played in Los Angeles, went to ACL for the weekend, and went BACK to finish the L.A. shows... they literally lugged everything to Austin just to play that show.ckravitz said:

They can do anything they want. They are millionaires who can afford to hire people to "lug" their equipment anywhere in the world.High Fidelity 2000 said:

Yeah guys I really doubt money and logistics is a problem. My first show was the Astoria in London, 2006. This venue no longer exists but it had 1600 capacity. They came all the way from Seattle to London for one tiny show then started their 2006 American avocado tour.

im 99% convinced red rocks is happening right before Rise...
its booked pretty solid already but there is a HUGE open gap from 7/4 through 7/11... blues traveler plays every 7/4... so that leaves 7/5, 7/6, 7/7, 7/8 open before the rise festival... coincidence? I think not

That they are only playing one night at this two night festival is the biggest tell to me. Widespread Panic played both nights last year. PJ is parachuting in and out. I think we will see another show somewhere either the night before or night after.___________________________________________

DTE is awesome. It's a hike, well north of Detroit, but great venue. What about Blossom?0

If they add RR and PJ25 and a few more shows, to me 2016 is their best schedule ever.my2hands said:im 99% convinced red rocks is happening right before Rise...

I think the band had a less than pleasant experience there, what with the corporate sponsorship and season ticket holders.. at least going by Ed's comments on the 2nd night.buck502000 said:DTE in Clarkston - PJ played 2 nights in 2003
I do think if they come back to Detroit in the next ~12 months it should be at the Joe while it's still around. That show there in 2014 was amazing.2003 Clarkston MI #2 | 2004 Grand Rapids MI | 2013 London ON | 2014 Detroit MI | 2016 Toronto ON #1 | 2025 Nashville TN #20 -

Surely someone grabbed a screen shot of that! If they add more dates this will be the best touring year in some time!the_don said:Apparently the west coast dates were leaked briefly on FB and then taken down.. all I know is Gorge was in there.
