Apologies as I'm sure this has been asked before, but was it the Mansfield, MA show in '03? They played over 40 songs. Anyone know why they played so long that night? Were they filibustering???

  • That is really cool! So, it was just something they felt like trying for the hell of it? Did they actually play them all? Looks like a couple were missing from Vitalogy, but I could be wrong...Hope they do that again someday, but I guess it would take about 4 shows now at least...

iirc it was supossed to be every song they'd played live on the tour (but I could be mis-remembering), oh and it's a Fantastic CD ;)

Yes, I have been to some Pearl Jam concerts. Several of them.
  • the state college show in 03 was quite long. Eddie even said at the time that it was the longest they had ever played. Boston that year could have been longer if you include the acoustic preset they did before sk.

  • Just clarifying on the Boston trio, they were attempting to play every song they had played so far on that tour. Not every song in their catalog.

  • I had heard they were trying to play 100 different songs. Of course they repeated Yellow Ledbetter. Best 3 show set ever though. There are songs they played that were not played at any other show so that blows the every song so far theory. All or None and All Those Yesterdays come to mind.
  • They played most of the songs in their repertoire but not all - they forgot about "Last Exit" for example.

The Vote for Change concert in Kissimmee, the last of the VFC "tour", was really long. They played for something like 3 and a half hours. Eddie came out after one of the breaks and said they decided back stage that they were going to 'leave it all on the stage'. There's no official set list anywhere or an official boot from 10C, but I bought some poor quality boots off of a guy on ebay of the show. I've never sat down and counted the songs, I just know it was a long ass show - the best I've ever been to by far. Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon were there too. :)

I think if you only count the main sets (and not the acoustic preset) that State College was longer. It went on till at least 12:15.
