Well - just took a glance at the Even Flow compilation - realized I had never heard that alt-intro of Even Flow from Japan 95. Pretty freakin sweet. Maybe we can compile our intelligent heads and make a compilation of alt versions of songs that exist.

Hopefully I can update this list with megauploads of each track eventually:

Known Alt-Versions

Jeremy: Red Rocks 95, etc.

Oceans: (Remix)

Wash: New Years 92

Garden: 06 versions

Porch: 06/30/98 - Target Center: Minneapolis, MN, Bridge 96

Even Flow: 02/08/95 - Adams Field House: University of Montana: Missoula, MT, 2/21/95 Japan

Go: With full album style intro Moore Theater 95

WMA: '08 Versions

Rearviewmirror: 08/17/93 - Robert Guertin Arena: Hull, Quebec (slow/ballad style)

Last Exit: 02/18/95 - Izumity 21 (Sun Plaza): Sendai, Japan (slow intro)

Corduroy: Bridge 96

Lukin: 1:59/100 Pacer versions

In My Tree: 03 Versions

Who You Are: 08 Versions

I am A Patriot: 03 slow version, Tibetan Freedom Concert Versions

Betterman: DC 06, Storytellers

I'm sure I'm missing a bunch, this was just a quick list I made.

no the Even Flow I put on the compilation is from Osaka, Japan 02/21/95. They use that intro a few times on the '95 tour.

also include "Puzzles & Games" aka the "Light Years" demo version in that list, off the top of my head...

There are lots of alt versions of studio songs like:

The different NAIS intro on the single vs album

The different production on Insignificance on the NAIS single vs album

Undone original vs Undone on Lost Dogs (diff productions).

Wash original vs Wash on Lost Dogs

Diff lyrics to HTI on Lost Dogs vs Chicago Cab

Diff lyrics to WYAre on RVM vs No Code

    Both versions of Drifting

    Also:

    I'm Open from 06/08 tours

I Am A Patriot slow version from 03

    etc etc

i'm going along the lines of where the song is different in terms of structure for the most part. I'm gonna add WMA/Who You Are from this last tour (forgot about them!), but in terms of lyrical changes from lost dogs and different production values, that might be for a different compilation :)

And for the person who mentioned the 2/21/95 Japan Show - do you have the show from MT where it may be different?

Keep up the good work :)

Immortality from 2000 tour sucks because I can't remember which show.
There's also a snipet of it in the "Picture in a Frame" DVD.
Here’s a question you might need to ask
What’s self destruction and how can we last?

Coming up a which way sign. All good truants must decide."

  • Long Road from Red Rocks is different.

    In fact, from Five Horizons:

notes: PJ performs their first six songs seated, experiencing some of the effects of the altitude and taking a different approach from the previous night. 'Ship Song' is by Nick Cave. They get frustrated being seated (Stone declares, "All right, "fuck the seats") and they dump the chairs as they launch into 'Last Exit.'
