We are lining up on the 25th. I hate how the crowd is set up so no one will be in front of Ed because they have a walkway in the middle for security.

you are seriously lining up on the 25th? that's some dedication
The Pope is having a procession through Central Park on Friday. You might not be able to form a line until afterwards.

Once again, we need to remember this is not a Pearl Jam only event. If anything, we will be outnumbered by the Beyonce/Sheeran fans there. Not going to be remotely close to your normal PJ concert crowd.

You place a wee child on your shoulders with a sign that says, "Ed, may I please have a tambourine?" Boom! Rail AND! a free souvenir.

Make sure to hit the pop-up shop before and while you wait in line, post those finds on eBay to finance the trip you've just made.

Haha that would probably work. And yeah I really look forward to the pop-up shop. I'll be getting in NY about the middle of the day that Friday and hope to go there right away. Also hoping that everything's not gone by then..

You probably can't line up before the 26th cause of the pope's visit and related security and also because the park will be closed.
  • This concert is MASSIVE, not a good one to try and "get close".

Website says gates are on E. 72 and W. 72... That is a bit of a hike to get to the Great Lawn... Wondering of they are blocking the whole park off because they will have some pissed off NY'ers... Probably fence off a path to the lawn and just bring everybody in that way...

yes, they block off the path to the lawn. It's a hike alright...takes a while to get in so be prepared. I have no desire to stand all day so I'm going for my regular spot. Plenty of screens and room to relax and stretch out. Not thanks on being a sardine! I'm too old for that shit!

Pearl jam fans thinking they're above the law. Ya right, you're gonna line up the night before. Good luck on that and NYC police aren't like your local security crew hired for the shows you're used to attending. They'll grab you and physically throw you out of said line. Have fun trying.

I had no idea Central Park closes. If you guys get arrested or tuned up for trying to form a line the night before the concert I'm going to laugh at you. It's the wrong weekend to try any of that shit.

So since Global Citizen stopped answering my emails I tried messaging them on facebook. Got me nowhere. My friend got tickets in the last draw so I'm covered and I've given up on trying to worry about my group. Let them figure it out themselves cuz GCF is being stupid. I email them and they ask me questions I've already answered in the email I sent. Same thing on FB messenger but it's worse on messenger. My first message was like "this is my email address I'm not getting emails from you" the next question they ask me is "what was the email address on your account?" like fucking scroll up two lines it's right there! They've pissed me off more than I care to admit this year.

But fuck it. Pearl Jam. In Central Park. For free. With my friends. I got no business complaining. (but i will anyway)

Hey Dan, imagine if they try the sharpie and notebook queuing?? But officer it says #1 on my hand. Officer-shove that #1 up your ass and get to the back of the line. Or fuck off.

technically you won't be lining up "in the park" You would be on the sidewalk...where the gate to get into the park will be. lol

I went in line with my friend for Hair tickets once. We got there at 3 am and we had no problem standing there like meatheads in the park until the box office opened at like 10 or something. Had peeps on bikes taking food orders and delivering breakfast. It was awesome.
Don't see this happening here tho. Best shot at up front is East side and get there at the break of dawn.

Since I screwed up my wording in the original thread post (which everyone has politely made me aware of) I changed it to make it what I really meant. And I will probably never post a thread anytime soon because my reputation is now crap after my first post.

eh, buck up...It's no biggie. Like I said, go in the East gate, get there as early as you can and just have a great time. We all know what they look like anyway. I just want to hear my Favorite band of all time play live. I could have a blindfold on for all I care!

This same mindset has stopped me from starting other threads, but it is the wrong mindset. Post what you want man, it doesn't matter what the group thinks. As long as you get 1 person to read it and make them think then there was a positive impact of the post and a validity for posting it.

Apologies if my comment was one of the ones that made you feel hesitant to start another thread. Hopefully, you have a nice, relaxing day at the festival, and no one cuts in line or allows anyone to cut in line.

In the future, if you are ever concerned about the wording of a thread that you want to start -- that is, if you do decide to start one -- feel free to run it by me in a pm first. I'm an editor by trade and can help you keep a solid rep -- at least via your words; how you maintain your rep via your actions is up to you.

And yes, I do regret the part about cutting in line. You all got me there

No need to apologize to anyone here.
Its over and done. Its all good.

    And trust me.
I have met 100 people here on this board, who would stab their friend in the back, just to get 5 feet closer to the stage.
Don't let the angels here fool you.

    Carry on.
So true... the "PJ Family" stuff gets thrown out the window at shows unfortunately...
I've seen not so nice people...

  • I went to GCF last year and they line you up out on the street. Two years ago I had a friend get in line at 8 am (foo fighters were there) and they ended up 4 rows from the rail. They have you walk through out the park to get to the great lawn. Which took us about 30 mins to wind to where we sat. Food was way over priced, they didn't serve alcohol and we were 3-4 football fields away. Watched most of it on the Jumbotron. There was a lot of down time with people talking, so there was a lot of sitting on the ground. Even though PJ has an hour and half to play. There will be a lot of talking in between songs. Jay-z was the last to go on last year and he played 12 songs.
I shit and I stink, I'm real, join the club.
  • Just wait until the first fast song starts and slam your way to the front. Either that or the "I'm gonna puke!" Method. Works every time. Enjoy the front row!!
