I was living in Philadelphia at the time. I remember sobbing on my drive to work. Getting there and the place was empty. A ghost town. This massive city hiding. Watching the Tribute show began the healing. Never forget.
So I'm pretty sure the dedication over 9/11 from Ed's set this weekend was for the daughter of the pilot of the plane that struck the south WTC tower in 2001. She is in the documentary Nine Innings From Ground Zero. It's on YouTube if you care to watch it. The whole thing is pretty moving, but she appears around the 40 minute mark if you have want to skip ahead.
Never Forget.

I've posted this before on the boards. 17 years now.
On July 8th, 2003, Pearl Jam played NYC (MSG) for the first time since 9-11-01. Before "I Am Mine", Eddie had this to say:
“If I could just say, as a representative of the group, I just wanted to tell you that this is the first time that we’ve been here since that big day ago about a year and a half ago. Seemed to change everybody. We were on the opposite coast in Seattle and everybody felt it and we felt it and we had just been through Denmark the year before and we certainly knew what it felt to see loss of life and to feel it deeply. I know how many people, each life affected. So I’m taking the opportunity now, a year and a half later, since it’s the first time we’ve been back proper, just to tell you we were all thinking about you and we think you handled yourselves so great. This song, this song’s about personal safety and the feeling of being secure and even free. It’s called, “I Am Mine”.”
Hard to believe it was over 10 years ago. I vividly remember this emotional feeling coming over me as he spoke and I still get chills when I hear it today.
God bless all who lost their lives that day and the families and friends affected.
I was about two hours away but one thing i remember strongly was how nice the weather was that morning. Like a perfect blue sky. A few white clouds. So bizarre.
I still remember what I was doing ( getting ready for a flight) that morning and all the confusion that followed. Had to visit the small Memorial we have here in Kitchener to pay my respects.
