My friend passed away a few weeks ago....poem I wrote

I found out on August 27th that my friend of nearly 23 years had passed away unexpectedly a few days prior, most likely due to an aneurysm (autopsy not finished yet). His service was yesterday (and internment will be next Tuesday). I recited this poem...
"12a"
I see a silhouette of trees as I go for a drive
Late August and its temperamental sun
Lowering itself into the horizon
Leaving traces of pink along the bottom edges of clouds
A tear falls down my face as the dusk air cools
Memories swirl around in my head
Of a picture, a photograph taken many years ago
By a friend of mine
A friend of ours
A man who defined what a friend is
Capturing a moment a group of friends shared
At the bottom of the escalators
In the parking lot of the old mall
Right down the street from where I live
Where we all live
The moon rises high above the aforementioned trees
Clouds separating into none
All I know now is that he's gone
He's gone, but I'm still here
We're all here
Just like that photograph of friends
Hanging out like we always did
Just like friends should do
Surrounding a random, pretty girl
No one even dared
Talk to or simply ask her
For her name
Forever a mystery
Wherever the clue
He sought that clue
An answer to this riddle
That haunted him delightfully for many years to come
He wore it on his sleeve
The film negative, numbered 12a
Tattooed permanently
In his mind
And a beautiful mind it was
As years passed by
Still, there he was
Always there for me
There for us all
A simple text or phone call
Just to say “hey"
Hanging out for some sushi, or
Even a bowl of pho
Or watching a movie at his house
The house that was his home
This home, now an empty building
On a quiet street nearby
As cars pass on by
While birds soaring up in the sky
Covered with clouds edged in pink
Reflection of the sun
Outlining a silhouette of tall trees
Along side a busy street
I continue to drive on
Reminiscing about a photograph
Taken a many years ago
By a wonderful friend of mine
A friend of ours
Who touched all of our lives
Forever etched in time
