Florida or California?

We are planning a 3 week family holiday for next summer and 2 want to go to Florida and 2 want to go to California.
Given the choice, what would you recommend? We did the Disney experience 6 years ago when the kids were younger but now they're 17 and 16 we are undecided.
All advice gratefully accepted!

    Whatever's less expensive.

    :money:

If that happens to be Florida, pm me for some destinations. I was born and raised In the Sunshine State, so I could probably be of some help.

PM would be better just to keep it from turning into another distracting "weird Florida" thread.

^^^^^ You just made your correction before I could post! I was thinking that she'll hunting wasn't really appropriate for a family vacation

I know some nice PJ peeps from both places.

I agree with the grumpy guy...I like northern Cali a lot, Santa Cruz, Monterey, redwood forests.
Been to Fla too, but just Orlando. Mr. RK liked Sanibel.

Toss pieces of paper in a fishbowl with the 2 places written on them, and pull one out, then that will be where you go.

    Plus one, that! :plus_one:

If you come to California, get here before the worst of the hot weather and fire season- earlier in the summer is nice here!

Florida is too hot to be outside for very long in the summer. If you want a vacation that is mostly outdoors, California would be more fun.

justam has a point. Unless, you stay on the beach, your family will be miserably hot outdoors. And I mean right on the coast, because as soon as you cross the bridge over the intercoastal waterways that separate most Florida beach towns from their inland neighbors, the temp spikes upward by 5-10 degrees. The Keys are still nice in the summer.

Those are all great and I'll add Marco Island and do some catamaran sailing.....it's easy to learn just need to do it a couple times and you are there. Naples on the Gulf Coast is also nice....if Florida is less expensive this will be a great choice.

    Peace
