Afghan Whigs - Do To The Beast.

I've tried to listen to PJ boots, but I end up waking up to different songs-- especially if the boot is from a show I attended.

Sadly, I am one of those people who have to listen to something when I am sleeping.  I have the horrible habit of leaving the TV on.  Whenever I sleep over anywhere, I take my iPod with me.  I cannot sleep in silence.  My brain is too loud.

Their live performances are indistinguishable from their studio work, because that's exactly how they record.
It's beautiful that all they need to do is pull out a pair of acoustic instruments and they can casually produce perfectly timed, flawless, and gorgeous music together.
Most bands can't do that reliably every time even after 30 years together.

    Ludovico, awesome!!!
What you do is look under the video and there should be a "share" option, you copy the address that should say youtu.be within it. Then you just paste it here, and it should show up on the screen when you hit preview or post.

I tend to either want music that energizes me or music to chill out with .

For music I like to relax with, it really depends on the mood. I don't know if you just want us to post single example but in general, some favorites to chill by include:

Neil Young (Especially Tonight's the Night)
    J Mascis (solo work)
    Rain Parade
    Kurt Vile
Harvey Mandel (especially side 2, Games Guitars Play)
    Brian Eno
    Sandy Bull
    Tim Buckley
    Willie Nelson
    Waylon Jennings
    Merle Haggard
    Ernest Tubbs
    J. J. Cale
    Mississippi John Hurt
    Bukka White
    Isaac Hayes
    Bob Marley
    Al Green
    Vince Guaraldi
    Bill Evans
    Gabor Szabo
    Paul Desmond

I don't know if it's exactly relaxing, but this piece of music has helped me through a lot of tough times.

It is interesting to see what music relaxes people. Someone dear to me used to find Elliott Smith relaxing, and while his music can be soothing, the lyrics are sometimes too sad for me to find it relaxing.

"Needle in the Hay" is that way for me.  A very soft, almost soporific song in some ways, but also with devastating undertones.

If you haven't read it, you might want to check out Benjamin Nugent's Elliott Smith and the Big Nothing.  I loved it.

For me, one of the most relaxing pieces of music is "Loose Change" from Neil Young and Crazy Horse's Broken Arrow.  When the band locks into that repeating chord with those very subtle changes after the last verse and chorus for several minutes (from about 5:20 on) I get utterly lost in the music.  It's as close as I know how to get to meditating.
