I don't know. I wish there wasn't horns and sax on it. I would love to hear a basic vox, drums, bass and guitar version of this. I get the 'Bruce' part here and I like it. The rest though I just can't get with. I know, I know. It's a classic! My Dad never listened to the Boss so I'll blame it on him.

40 years old now. wow. the song Born to Run has started to wane for me. just seems aged and tired but Thunder Road and Jungleland will never age or tire. Still love hearing those two. just beautiful.

I remember it taking me a while to warm to the horns on the record, but Clarence Clemons' sax solo on Jungleland it just stunning.

Same here. So far skipped track 1 after 45 seconds. Just painful. I want to like it so bad.

Absolutely cannot stand the sax/bells/horns. Drives me fucking insane. I thought Born to Run was a Christmas song until I was in college.

    It's not a Christmas song?!?
  • This thread makes me sad.

That Phil Spector esque sound will do that to you.

    This thread makes me sad.

Big Man is spinning in his grave.

Solid album but I'm all about TWTI&TESS, DOTEOT and as far as post millennium goes, Magic.

I'm with you- Magic is the best newer album. Darkness and Nebraska are what made me fall in love with Bruce's catalog. Nebraska would be a good place to start for PJ fans I'd say.

    im loving his song

    at the moment
    im in love with the
    deprived more
  • I was once dumb and hated Springsteen. I now find great joy singing Thunder Road and Born To Run with a car load of people. My favorite albums by him are Nebraska, as previously mentioned, and also Devils and Dust. Nebraska is sparse, night time music just chock full of desperation, regret, and loss. A happy dance record!

You have to remember that even PJ is classic rock now. It's like the line in that song 1985 "when did Mötley Crüe become classic rock?"

I remember the stones put out a new album in the late 80's and saying 'who cares'.

Kids want new and fresh. Not everyone enjoys the classics.

Kids want to believe something is new and fresh, even though it isn't. Not everyone understands there is a reason people call them "the classics".
    Fixed.
