good-bye

to die for the sun
it'll say this when i'm gone
equals are winter nights & me
a single autumn leaf dried brittle like where i dream
thin ice was never under toe
all freight trains still sunk down deep

where the darkness of whaling harpoons
splits seas wide open
spilling over in red waves
with nothing flowing decent anymore

small birds & butterflies nibble at nectar before death
but now this long tale has shortened
as we drink & bathe in
blood from sky-pillows
for poetry through the ceiling. ISBN: 1 4241 8840 7

"Hear me, my chiefs!
I am tired; my heart is
sick and sad. From where
the sun stands I will fight
no more forever."

Chief Joseph - Nez Perce

Long may you live, Sir Chadwick.
“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
Variously credited to Mark Twain or Edward Abbey.

    to die for the sun...

You could write a whole poem (in list form) to complete that sentence!

    ie
to die for the sun would be noble
to die for the sun would be no sacrifice
to die for the sun would be completely part of history
to die for the sun would be to live for some water
to die for the sun would be okay by me
to die for the sun might be necessary!
to die for the sun might be a metaphor
to die for the son, to die for love, that's what we're for
    it's quite possibly the same...

I like yours up above. I just thought I'd add to it a bit! :)
