Pearl Jam to Headline Global Citizen Festival

You know you're my boy, D, but I only half agree with you. The middle chunk where you're talking about capitalism (I think) is confusing to me. I'm a huge fan of capitalism. I own a small business. I don't think anyone booing had an anti-capitalist stance. If anything this festival promotes a globalist, leftist, Marxist, pinko-commie agenda.dimitrispearljam said:come on.,.lets be honest for once,.,people booing cos they want to see the band asap..noone was a rebel and booooing rich people,or the "system"..
we all live in capitalism world..u would do the same shit with rich people to earn more,,as all the planet does.
u want to see the band,to enjoy to have fun,,take your selfies,enjoy..
people booing cos want to see the show and tired of waititng..im not buying it that people booing to show their resistant to the "evil corp"
But anyway, I don't want to get further in the weeds with this shit. This isn't a political thread. It was an awesome day. Anyone teary-eyed about the booing they heard should get over it. I promise you that none of the people involved in Global Citizen or any of the speakers are broken up about it or even remember it.0 -
And yes, we were booing because we wanted to see the show and we were tired of the endless speeches. No one is denying that. The last half hour or so was poorly organized. Even the people who watched on TV that I've spoken to agree with that. There were multiple reasons for booing so I don't really get your point.0

I know Beyonce is talented so I was expecting to be entertained by her set at least. false. That was no different than Britany Spears or a state fairgrounds show.
I don't like Coldplay and didn't know Ed Sheeran, but their sets were infinitely more enjoyable to me. Even her swimsuit attire couldn't sway me.

I thought she was a lot sexier when she came out for Redemption Song in jeans and a tshirt. Like, damn, she wears regular clothes!Smellyman said:

Last year the day after she came out with Jay we saw her in NYC without her hair extensions (or wig, I really don't know) but she looked adorable. Her hair looked great in a bob and she was in leggings and a t-shirt. It's all show biz....just not my style. I was like lets get this over with and bring out a band with real instruments....lol. Not a huge Jay fan either but I thought his show was much better.ceska said:

I only caught bits and pieces of it all on youtube. They all did a great job!--great message to be more of an active citizen.0

I'm not a fan as such, but her performance at Glastonbury a few years back was pretty damn impressive - probably better song choices.....Smellyman said:I know Beyonce is talented so I was expecting to be entertained by her set at least. false. Honestly Beyoncé was painful to me on so many levels. Not my thing at all but to each his/her own. I'm so happy my daughter agreed with me. It was "cute" at first to see all her fans enjoying the pop songs... then something happened where it seemed to take own a ghetto/man-hating/i'm-bitch-type vibe. that's when I bailed for the porta-potties. no line either!!!shetellsherself said:

That's a good call and would have done the same but we were so close we would have had trouble getting back. It was tight in there especially after Beyoncé when her fans started leaving and PJ fans started pushing forward. That was another painful moment.lolobugg said:

I'm glad I'm not the only who felt like it wasn't so much pushing gender equality but actually coming across as anti man. Lol.lolobugg said:

People were booing because they wanted pearl jam, plain and simple. You can hear eddies and pearl jam being yelled out on the dvr. Pretty pathetic, 15 years ago I probably would have done the same thing but I knew what this was all about and am planning to continue to research on the global citizen website. Malala did not get booed I can tell you , thank god. Great idea with no alcohol, but would have been great to know, would have gotten one before the show. Me and my fiancé met a couple from Toronto who were cool, didn't get their names. Great 3 song ending. VIP 3 was 99% pj fans. Great weekend. In the city, great cause, pj sounded A-. Clearly a warmup for South America, A+ day though with the greatest fans in the world. Definitely was thinking 2 hours like MIA, other than the cause and a needed warmup, surprised they agreed to an hour and 15 set.0

I had to laugh everytime they showed some clueless fucker in VIP 1. they had no idea what any of the lyrics were. they always had the guilty look when caught on screen.

All in all the weather was perfect, it was a beautiful day/night to be out and about in Central Park. The version of Imagine was great, clear skies, full moon while Eddie sang. John Lennon would be proud.0
