As in so many Summer Squalls
Lightning streaks the Sky
Selecting it's next victim
The element of surprise
Once the shock is over
To burn and fly away?
Or shake a fist and shake it off
“Fuck you, not yours today!”
Your Sun burns skin unprotected
And shelter and culture is a must
Minds forever working, working
We pray, “In God We Trust”
A mistake in evolution
Or can that even be?
At least, something gone terribly wrong
Who are we that we call “We”?
“We” dig holes through your Mountains
“We” plow away the Plains
Our waste fills land and water
You are forever changed
All wrapped up in guns and motors
For faith and land “We” die
Pulling gems, salt and oil from below
Satellites in your Sky
The Moon pulls on your Ocean
Your Flowers need the Rain
You don’t need “We”, that’s for sure
So why did “We” begin?
My Earth, my friend, my beauty, my love
Simply put, I adore you
Please forgive us, what “We” have done
“We know not what we do”
If you are an Almighty Earth
Then,
I will wait for you to show me what I am….
