I've never ever heard it called Alive Guy until now (and I don't like it - Stickman it is ).
When the illustration first appeared, and was on the cover of the alive single, fans didn't have a official name for it. So it was known as the "Alive guy".
dude...its most definitely Alive guy. At least in the 90's and early 2000's. Stickman?
Finally. Someone who knows. Officially they might call it stickman, but it's always will be the "alive guy" The name Stickman has no reference to pearl jam. Alive guy references the song Alive and the the feeling of Pearl jams music
If it is "officially" called Stickman...isn't it "officially" Stickman?
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills, people!
My vote, for what it matters, is STICKMAN. Officially speaking, of course.
Jeff Ament: I drew the stickman the night after Kelly Curtis told me that we needed artwork for the giveaway cassette for "Alive." The "art" really just represents how I was feeling at the time, playing in the best band I'd ever been in, and all of us were in such a creative zone. It really didn't have anything to do with the song.
So I guess, according to Jeff Ament, "Alive Guy" would be totally wrong.

No it didn't have to do with the song, but it was on the single. And since people had no name for it they referred to it as the alive guy because it was on the alive single. "Oh that's the alive guy"

Well, the people I have been around since the beginning always called it what it looked like... a stickman. So in my experience.... since people had no name for it they referred to it as the stickman because that's what it was.
But you can call it whatever you want... "dude on the Alive single", "Alive Guy Thingy", George, Bill, Jose, doesn't really matter.
I definitely referred to him as alive guy when the album first hit. I'm not sure if that's something I came up with in my own head or heard from someone else. Not until I discovered the internets around 1995 or so did I see people calling him stickman and that's what I've called him since then.

I never noticed/realized that he had eyes and a mouth. Always thought it was part of his hair or something.
