How about we learn the Native American language 1st
Quite the undertaking, Jose! There were once hundreds, perhaps even thousands of native languages in the Americas at one time!
yes and they were beautiful people & customs , languages , medicines , spirituality and most of all they cared about this Earth and all its inhabitants all of'em , man i would give anything to experience a life like that ....

Oh, for sure, Jose. Most tribal groups historically were based around concepts like communal good, fairness and acceptance (not all, of course, but most). I don't know if that even exists anymore although I know a woman who live in Fiji not too many years ago and she said life was wonderful there- plenty of food, people shared everything, no strife.
If I could transport myself to any time and place I would be an Ohlone Native American back two or three hundred or more years in what is now the San Francisco Bay Area. Plenty of resources, peaceful living, good people and customs. Incredible!

this country belongs to the people and this country was built and protected by the people, people that have faith in God..maybe not all of them but a very large number of them and that's what I'm trying to get across to some of you, if you believe or not is up to you ...that's your "constutional right" .

corporate america was built by those people who came here and brought their god with them (my ancestors as well). not your country. it does not belong to them. it rightfully belongs to those who were here first. interesting how you have had zero comment on all of those facts in this thread.
I would say that from just about man's first step fighting over hunting areas, water, farming areas was how things were done and the winner always got to stay, the native's of this land fought and killed each other and died for "thier land" and that fight with the new Americans ended a loooooong time ago.....guess who won. ALL lands all over the world were fought for at one time or another. asian's may have been the first to settle in the america's before the Indians, DNA studies have shown some tribes in different areas of America have asian DNA and some how they have determined that that those blood lines go back before the indian settlements (it's been a while but I read some real interesting stuff on that) so at the end of the day while I respect the indian way of life I aint going for this "it's thier land" bullshit(sorry) it was a military defete just like poland, germany, austrialla and everybody else who fought for and kept the land.
yes; corprate America sucks ! but you have to learn to play thier game to use them to move forward.

A military defeat? Although there were occasional border skirmishes between native tribes/nations, most borders were defined by natural regions and were generally respected. Though bloody was did occur in some regions, generally when fighting did occur in most regions it was closer to something like flag football where a "kill" was scored by counting coup. None of this compares to the genocide wrought upon Native Americans by Europeans during Continental Conquest and that similar acts occurred elsewhere does not make it right that we did that here.
Of course we are not going to "give America back to the Indians"- no one is that naive- but until we acknowledge the reality of the brutal and shameful way in which European culture came to dominate this land, we continue at best to live with a very unrealistic notion of how we got here.
It seems weird to me that so often we are willing to acknowledge the wrong doing of the enslavement of African Americans and celebrate (as we should) the civil rights era (not that racism has vanished) but still seem unwilling to be truthful about the genocide of American Indians. And when we do recognize Indians it is through some romantic notion of these people in the past rather than the existence of living, modern human beings and some kind of vague notion of Indians as earth spirit environmentalist caricatures.
Paul Chaat Smith says all this much better than I have in his excellent book, Everything You Know About Indians is Wrong. Pretty much anything by Vine Deloria, James Welch and Sherman Alexie are worth checking out as well.

Lol. I read that sentence 5 times and couldn't figure out that it needed a comma. That's why I posted that.
It's amazing how one comma can change the entire dynamic of a sentence.

So you are justifying the historical genocide of native americans as a "military defeat"? Is that what you would say to a jewish person with regards to world war 2? It was a military defeat, and get over it because it was a long time ago?
We can put the "their land bullshit" as you called it aside, and just focus on what you posted. I just dont get the blatant racism of these ridiculous articles and emails and "learn our language! sing our anthem! Wear our clothing!" What are you so afraid of? That these people will take over like the europeans did? That they will steal your jobs because they work hard instead of relying on seniority, unions, and just generally being white?
I am a white male canadian, with scottish and english ancestral heritage, and it boils my blood when i read shit like this. Not only for its content, but in also how its presented as some form of patriotism, and when confronted, "harmless fun". It is not harmless. It is incredibly damaging to all.
this was not a racist post at all, it's an historical fact. this country has a colture and laws that do not need to be changed for anybody and I'm not speaking about the native indians. I re-read my post and for the life of me I do not see anything I posted as racist, I get as sick to my stomic as you when people post stuff like "they were here first" and then a constant "the white man slaughter them" well bohoo man it wassn't me or at least the last 4 generation of my family and I'm sick of hearing the shit from people especially the people that own a nice home or own business's on this so called stollen land, it's time to get real and move forward and I think some of those people would be suprised as to just how much land is owned by indians, there are buildings/property just in san diego owned by indian tribes and I am all for it, another thing some people don't know is how much money and support the indian gamming boards give to local communities, believe me I have great fondness for the indians in my area but lets not confuse history from 200+ years ago with the current way things are. I wish the indian wars never took place it was a mistake in my opinion but I wassn't there to say shit, so if I sound cold hearted...I'm not, I'm just tired of the whinning. if you really want to get into the history and facts of this country and who was here first it's really interesting and the evidense of who was first or not can leave you wondering.

Historical fact? There is little historical fact in any part of this article. Its an attempt, and a poor one at that, at satire. Articles ten and eleven are typical racist launching pads. Telling people "this is an english speaking country, learn it" and "in god we trust" is steeped in cultural intolerance. Not to mention, it just isnt true. America was not founded by england, nor was it foundd as a nation under god. Right wing media tells you that, but that simply is not the case.
I had no hand in the history of my country and how aboriginals were treated. Absolutely. I own a home and thrive. Saying that my opinion doesnt matter because of this is utter nonsense. I am sure you are aware of that old saying about those who forget the past. And i do have a hand in its future and present, and telling these groups of people to get a life is not a productive part of that.
Need to move on? Seriously? Tired of the whining? Good god. You seem to have zero comprehension of how difficult it is for a community to undo the emotional, financial, mental hardships from one generation to the next after surviving an attempt at cultural genocide and racial oppression. This isnt a football game where you pick yourself up after a loss.
You dont just fucking "get over it". Think of the multi-generational pain that can be caused by one alcoholic father who beats his kids. That shit gets passed down for generations, and is a cycle that is nearly impossible to not repeat. Now take that one father, make him a nation of thieves and murderers, and think of what that does to the victims.

Yeah, move on. Get over it. Excellent advice.
well.....you, me ,we or them can continue to be haunted by the past or move forward and improve our lives but there is always the option of self pitty and blame to justify failure, you said generations one to the next after surviving an attempt at cultural genocide and racial oppression......well teach your children well their parents hell will slowly go by...or teach them that they will never have anything because 200+ years ago this or that happened !
I don't know how to make it any more clear than this " I'm sorry that the history of this country was not better in some aspects for many people but it's high time to put on your big boy pants and learn a way to make your life and the lives of your children better, it may not be easy infact I know it is not but it's your choice to move forward or rot in the past".
also- I can't imagine having to have survive slavery or genocide so I really can't speak to that but then again niether can you or anybody you know...other than some of the Jewish survivers of nazi germany, even with hell they went thru they as a people have learned to over come and move forward, they may never forget the horror they survived or the stories passed down by family but all in all they stayed strong and survived.
