T.V and sex crimes

a quick thiught while I was watching T.V just now...
A man can be charged with a sex crime and given up 20 years to life (as he should)
and T.V promotes sex everyday, young girls and boys wearing very little and grown women wearing even less
and on some stations like IFC full nudity is almost common place. in my opinion T.V and shows like "the Braxtons" or "Kendra on top"
are just trash, i've only seen the trailers for these shows and can only imagine what kind of shit they show or talk about
well that's my rant for the evening, good night.

Something tells me a thread about sex crimes and the way women dress isn't going to go over very well.

I was thinking about the T.V shows and how they put sex on the air with out thinking of age groups or the sick and twisted people that watch it, I really wassn't thinking about clothing issues.

GF, I think anyone capable of forcing him (or her) self upon another isn't even seeing their object as a person, let alone what they're wearing or doing or acting.

Seeing full-on nudity doesn't spur that kind of action. If it did, we'd all be fucked (literally!) due to the availability of allll kinds of porn. Not to mention the National Geographic magazines of my youth.

That said, it is pretty sad how I see women in some of these videos and whatnot. It seems disrespectful, to themselves.

By the way, GF - life itself promotes sex! Different ways and means, but still.

true enough, maybe I'm just disgusted with all these advertisments for reality t.v ..even that large hillbilly woman was naked at the pool once and this Kendra woman all pissed of and telling her husband that the devil has eaten his soul...really ? the bitch has a sex video and this young star seeker Courtney Studen his trying to market a video of her self masterbating, t.v has gone to shit for some part.

I have difficulties watching prime time Tv due to the guns and killing.

Don't have a daughter but could imagine the frustration of parents when they turn on the tube or other media.

So Hugh created kids versus dog thread and GF sex thread.

Nice change from killing brown people and DP.

it's pretty amazing what even network tv get's away with these days. even 8 pm shows now can be inappropriate for younger audiences. add that to reality TV and the Internet and kids today are way more overwhelmed with sex than we ever were. no doubt kids are being exposed to it and sexualized much younger.

in fact i just remembered I was in the Supermarket this past weekend and they had a full on display in the front of the store to buy the movie Fifty Shades of Grey. with a poster and lots of copies of the movies out front. I was quite surprised at how upfront and open it was.

IFC has always been uncensored. Just saying.

When you pay for cable, you get uncensored television that the networks can't air.

Quit being prudes. If you don't like the content, change the damn channel. Is the news any better?Isnt that violence porn?
If your kids are raised right, seeing boobs on tv isn't going to scar them or make them rapists.
For centuries the Naked body has been a form of art, both in painting and on stage. So nakedness isn't really the problem.I think GF your disturbed by the brainless programming being shoved down our throats. But there is still quality options out there. If the fat disgusting white trash Honey Boo Boo shit isn't your deal, then watch a History show,or Animal nature or cosmos show(Really cool high in Super HD Just saying).
I think we run the risk of getting all Tipper Gore with projecting a few people's moral standards on everyone else.

Also the rest of the world dosent run and hide from nudity and sex like we do in North America.Im sure sexual assaults are much less in Europe compared to here.

and Lucy and Desi slept in their own beds. Lucy generation was then shocked by Magnum PI.

and I used to walk every day to school in a foot of snow.

do you think it's ok to have a Fifty Shades of Grey poster in the supermarket with the girl's hands tied above her head? i'm far from a prude but i found myself questioning that.

If you're involved in your kids lives, you have to shelter them from the really graphic stuff, but look at the kinda benign stuff as parenting opportunities......talk about self respect vs self expression when it comes to how they act and dress, and consequences in relation to things they see around them. They don't like the conversations; they get uncomfortable and usually clam up...but at least there is a dialogue open. I get to say my piece, and if they want to talk, they know I am open to it. There is pretty much no way to put the genie back in the bottle when it comes to the internet. We're fools if we don't think they're being exposed to much more than this...all it takes is a single friend with an un-monitored phone/tablet/PC.

The age-old adage about uptight america; condemning sex, but glorifying violence, still sticks...
Violence on TV has increased a helluva lot more than sex has, imo.....not to mention - kids spend more time playing video games (and watching videos of others playing video games lol...don't get that, but whatevs). And there is waaaaay more violence than sex in video games.

I'm on the fence about that sort of thing. On one hand, I'm not sure I want to see my daughters seeing it. On the other hand, they will most likely not even notice it at their age as they don't understand the context and it won't even phase them. They may ask "why does she have her hands tied, Daddy?", and I would just say "it's an adult movie, honey".

My one daughter is almost 9, so the days of her not understanding the context, however, are drawing to a close.

  • there really is no connection, in my opinion, and I believe studies will say the same, between sex on tv and sex crimes. sex crimes aren't even about sex. they are about power. sex on tv is about sex. there really is no correlation between the two.

I will say, however, that tv can help shape how a person views women and how they treat them, but I also think that for it to get the point of being a problem, it's usually for lack of proper guidance from a parental standpoint on respecting everyone's bodies, including their own, whatever that means to them.

as i said i'm kind of with you. i'm on the fence. i'm not totally sure it should be there but not totally sure it does any harm. i was just surprised when i saw it and made me think about it
