Mick Rock!!!

Mick was at my work today. As soon as I heard he was coming in, the super dork fan in me came out. I have met many famous people over the years (many of them are much more famous than Mick), but most of them don't impress me much. It wasn't until I heard Mick was coming in that I realized how in awe of him I am. He was kind enough to bullshit with me for a little bit. Told me about how he still hangs out with Iggy Pop, we talked about Lou Reeds passing, and he said that Lou had a huge catalog of material in his archives so we might be getting some "new Lou."

He couldn't have been a nicer guy. Yup, today was a good day!!!

    I was once at another photographer's show opening and both Mick Rock and Bob Gruen were there, amazing to talk to both of them, nicest guys and great storytellers, each in their own way. Cool that you met him, I'm sure he appreciated you saying hello!

    That sounds like an amazing opening you were at! Usually, I assume that celebrities just want to be left alone, but Mick didn't make me feel like I was bothering him. He seemed to enjoy that I really appreciate his work and was excited to met him or maybe he's just good at faking it. Either way it was a great day for me.

    I'm sure he wasn't faking it - he seems like a genuinely nice guy, and I really do bet he appreciated you saying hello. As acclaimed as he is, I actually doubt there are still THAT many people who would see him and know immediately who he is. I'm sure it's really nice when it happens, and really he was probably nice about it even back when everyone knew who he was.

    Wow, somehow I missed it last time I commented, but just remembered that the last time I saw Mick Rock it was at Eddie & Glen Hansard in LA at the Wiltern! Forgot that connection between Rock and this board....
