Considering selling a few posters...

I'm really on the fence about selling off a few of my posters, both have been professionally framed, hinge mounted and have been hung and displayed in my house for a while. I never thought I'd have to sell them, unfortunately it's looking like I may have to part with them.

Has anyone here shipped framed posters? Is it worth the headache?

I am not soliciting offers and I have not made my mind up on selling any of my posters. I am just asking for input on the questions I asked at this time.

Uhaul moving boxes work great for this.

I figured that. With shipping costs and insurance I'm just trying to figure out if its a good option for me. I'd hate to take the frames apart

Negotiate! I paid at least $50 extra for a nicely framed poster. Well worth it from my end.

Agree. While shipping is more for a framed poster, and UPS will pack it up for you very well, if the poster mat and frame looks good, it will sell and the buyer will be cool paying more for shipping.

I have the same deal as you...I have a couple posters I'm thinking of selling but don't think I'd sell them unless the frame goes with them....problem is I paid over $250 to get on framed, not saying I would charge that much on top of the value of the poster but it has to be worth something....the museum glass alone was over $100.
Question is what's fair on a price??
Cant buy what i want cause its free....
  • I've got a couple of hundred dollars into the frame jobs also, I know the posters would definitely sell and the way they are mounted wouldn't ruin the prints if I took them out of the frame, its just the idea of taking them out that would bug the hell out of me.

I would post it with first priority given to any local deals you can make in your area - some people would drive a few hundred miles to get it if they want the print and enjoy the frame-job... or some people may be heading your direction for a vacation and could pick it up :)

Add reasonable pricing for the framing and frame shipping and recoup some cost or refuse to ship framed and lose the entirety of what you put into the framing.
