Only when the the room is empty. She assisted in putting this trade deal together. Let's see her courageously take a stand on the issue and embrace it.
the american worker is about to be sold down the river.
the decision is going to be made in the house. likely tomorrow.
if you oppose this, call your congressman and tell them you oppose OBAMATRADE.
the term "my opponent voted for obamatrade" could be very damaging in the upcoming elections. it might scare some people away from voting for it.
WE NEED TO BRING MANUFACTURING JOBS BACK TO THIS COUNTRY ASAP!!!
What kind of manufacturing jobs should be brought back to this country? And how do you propose this should be accomplished?
manufacturing jobs are leaving everyday espically in California thanks to the fed's , state tax and state and county fees, fines, permits and a whole host of other bullsit that cut into the bottom line, for some corp's these expenditures exceed the payroll which by the way for a major corp like the one i work for is only 2 to 3% of the cost of doing business in Cali, all this crap needs to change so that business's are more welcomed and encuraged to stay or start up here, our fed, state and local government is flush with greed and rape business's as much as is possible and some casses even forcing business to close down or move out of the country.

That's a good question H2M, and I look forward to gimmes answer.
I don't know what it would look like to day because we've shipped most of our manufacturing abroad, but in the past, "US Made" meant well made and durable. Things made here were made to last. Craftsman, SK, Snap-on tools, for example, lasted forever. That was a good use of resources- making things that last. What a great thing we would be doing to bring back to the US the kind of manufacturing that carried the pride of well-made and durable instead of an imported (come on Neil/Crazy Horse, sing it!) "PIECE OF CRAP!"
(This is not to say I don't recognize that there are still some good overseas companies making durable goods like, for example, some German companies but it's gotten very hard to find things that are made to last.)

That's rich coming from someone who claims they're all about not giving into corporate bullshit yet she voted yay on the Monsanto Protection Act.
That really does suck. Her reply, according to this found on FB wasw:
"Her Press Secretary, Lacey Rose gave me this statement after the vote yesterday: “The Senator supports labeling and supports the rights of states to set labeling standards based on health and safety. She supports the purpose of the Sanders amendment but voted no because the proposal would have eliminated the ability of the FDA to force states to comply with a more pro-consumer standard in the future.”
That seems like a weak reason. She should have voted it down.
Manufacturing jobs might stay in the US if Americans were willing to pay higher prices. Are you willing to pay $20 for the t-shirt for which you are currently paying $10?
Another issue is that Americans aren't updating their skills to retain jobs within the manufacturing industry. Perhaps if we actually trained our kids for areas other than college we could retain these jobs (and probably at only slightly higher prices to the consumer). Unfortunately, vocational education has become a dirty word and few schools offer training and apprenticeships which they should IMO.

That is a minor issue that is used by the manufacturing industry to distract and cover the fact that companies are investing their capital in places with cheap labor forces. If they truly wanted skilled laborers they would train them like they did in decades past. Too expensive, cheaper to hire a 25 can't/hour worker in BBangladesh and deal with inferior products from his mistakes until he gets the hang of it.

That's true for some unskilled or low skilled positions. But most of this issue is because they need people that are highly skilled (robotics, in particular). That is a skill you need to get on your own not one that can be taught on the job. We are primarily outsourcing jobs to places like Bangladesh that are unskilled. The American work force is too skilled and too educated for those jobs.
Are we getting something out of this all-encompassing trip?
Seems my preconceptions are what should have been burned...

That's what they want you to think. I've run robots at 2 different jobs in manufacturing, no big deal. They run off programs and the programmers and robot builders are tech jobs not manufacturing jobs. The American workforce isn't too skilled or educated, people still stack and package at plants all over the US, for good wages. I was one of them. Also, there is NO job that can't be learned on the job (excluding the highest levels of the hard sciences). Experience is the only thing that matters.
$4.9 billion in profit. $39,000 in profit per employee. Demand and get a six year wage freeze. Corporate America and their G-R-E-E-D. Now, how is that good for the economy?
serious question Gimmi, wow will this affect the current movement of corp's moving job's out of the country ? the company I work for has plants all over the world and are closing the plant I work at, some of the work has gone to Poland already.

As for TPP, this came out recently:

obama is dead wrong on it. all you have to do is see how the republicans fall all over themselves to support and defend him here.
if they support it, it has to be wrong. they have not been right about anything in 20 years.

i am glad somebody finally sided with labor instead of selling the american worker down the river.
the good news is, if antilabor people like scott walker were in office, this would have been a defeat for him too.
