this is unacceptable, such an unnecessary avoidable tragedy. we really gotta do whatever it takes to do something about this, if it saves even one life it's worth it. we have to change the attitude that dead people, dead animals, pollution, and dependence on oil are all tolerable so that we can save a few minutes in time and not have our armpits sweat!!!

Godfather.

Problem solved.
You want to blame someone, then blame the dumb ass interior dept of Morraco for having horse carts for roads. The story says how bad they are.Sounds like the drivers aren't much better and that this is an ongoing issue.Hello!!!
So there it is.Get into this millennium Morraco and fix your major roads and less people will die. Some guard rails and lane markers. may also help.
The article suggests that the road conditions and traffic habits (laws?) are seriously lacking though. Which to me equals a problem of a society not keeping up with progress. If you're going to allow large vehicles and license people to drive them, then you have to make sure the infrastructure to make them safe is there too.
He's comparing automobiles designed for transportation to guns designed to kill.
"Living standards in Morocco are low by international standards and have declined continually since the early 1990s. As a result, the number of Moroccans living below the poverty line has risen sharply in the last decade. Although poverty levels dropped to 13 percent in 1991, some 19 percent of the population lived below the poverty line in 2000. Despite widespread poverty, uneven development has led to the emergence of an affluent class that controls most of the country's wealth and enjoys an elevated standard of living."

I do agree, goingtoverona, being in a hurry (and texting and cell phoning and hair combing etc., while driving) is a big part of the problem.
Brian, I've actually had people act dumbfounded when I tell them I don't talk or text in the car - phone's always in my purse even if it rings while I'm driving.
It's a pretty shabby attempt too, IMO
I'm just not a bells & whistles kind of person.
And now that you mentioned my beloved band, gonna get some of their music going here.
