Is it possible?

I know I'm probably fucked but does anyone know of a legit way to cancel an airline ticket without having to eat the cost? Right now I'm looking at having to try and swallow $1190...ugggghhhhh

Buying an airplane ticket to South America first and then not getting tix to PJ counts.

Crap, if that's what you did, keep the tix, GO! I seriously believe you'll find a ticket to the shows for fair fare!! Been to sooo many shows where I started out with no tix!!

Of course it does - I'm sorry.
  • If it's a broken heart due to love issues, then o
Am very saddened to hear that. I know that pain all too well and would never wish that on anyone. I hope things work out for you. Have you asked the Airlines if they'd transfer? Although I doubt they'd do that anymore these days.

Go anyway. Find someone else to accompany you. It won't be the same but it's better than losing out completely. Sorry for your pain.

If you cannot bear to go, maybe you can sell the ticket for a bit cheaper than you bought it for and just change the name/transfer the ticket.
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

That's a transfer. Don't know if Airlines will still do this, heavier security and all.

Tickets are usually non transferable & non refundable (except the taxes)
Although you should be able to change the dates for a fee plus any difference in the fare.
Some airlines also allow you to cancel the ticket , keep it as credit to be used towards a new ticket of equal or higher value. It just needs to be reissued within 12 months from the original date of purchase. Which airline is it? I can check the rules for you when I'm back at work

I figured transfers are out the window these days.. That's very kind if you to look that up for this person!

    ( aren't you a travel agent?)

I'm sorry to hear this :( I didn't go to Wrigley due to 'domestic issues' and I regret it. I can look back now and wish I would have found a way to go alone. Easier said than done I know - many well wishes and thoughts from Texas.

Can't usually be done unless you bought cancellation insurance (I personally always buy that, because you never know!). It should say pretty clearly in the fine print if you can do anything or not. I doubt they tend to make exceptions to those rules.

Yes I am - it's no worries will only take 2 secs to look up the fare. Airlines are pretty sucky at helping these days though!! I just had a customer who is terminally ill needing to upgrade to business class from Aus to the states so he could still go on his last family trip. The airline wouldn't give me any waivers on the fees at all. They have no soul

I read somewhere that travel insurance can be purchased after the tickets too and there's a cancel for any reason (CFAR) policy? Are you familiar with this?
  • GillycwGillycw Posts: 524
^^ not in Australia, you can only claim for sickness, injury or something unforeseen like extreme weather. Maybe in the states there is such a thing? If you have doctors certificate & insurance then you may be able to claim for illness
