Was the Self Titled LP limited to 2000?

Looking for consensus on the self titled LP being limited to a run of 2000. This spins out of a discussion on one of the FB groups. Anyone remember from the 10C sale? I was not in the vinyl game at the time so i am clueless, no notes on discogs.com about a limited run.

I've seen that figure mentioned before as well. I can't verify it, but it definitely seems like it received a low production run.

I don't think they ever sold it as "2000 copies only" so that's probably someone's guess. But could be close.

    Could be.... perhaps.

I actually emailed 10C once asking them to solve this mystery for us. No response.

(I personally don't believe that it could so few... but you never know I guess. Yes, you'd think they'd be more pricey if it were true, but since none of us know that it's true, then maybe there is nothing there to drive up the price, lol).

Pointed out in another thread--if Benaroya was only 2000 and sold out morning of release, this one had to be more than 2000. Was for sale for a few weeks and people said it was also available in record stores.

I do doubt that there were only 2000, but I'm not sure about this logic in particular. Benny Hall was a numbered special release, a live album with 4 discs, with a special announcement for it, coloured vinyl boxset, etc etc. I don't think it's comparable in any way to a studio album and how that sold.

This may be the biggest 10C urban legend out there. This edition of 2000 Avocado's is not true.

Seems like a ridiculously small number. But the real question is, how many were there? Because it IS somewhat hard to find, so there couldn't have been that many of them. I'd really like to know how many of all the post-Vitalogy/pre-Backspacer albums were made.

  • When Avacodo/ST was released the previous studio albums were already going for pretty big money so I'm guessing that many people who own a copy haven't been in too much of a hurry to part with it therefore the market does not fairly represent the actual supply. I realize this is all just conjecture but my estimation would be closer to a 5000 run which is still fairly low for a band with global popularity and rabid collectibility.

Exactly. 2000 Benny's sold out in a few hours for what, 45 bucks US? While ST vinyl was on sale @ the 10club store for many weeks for $20 bucks? And there was no limit on buying it. I know cause I bought a few. ;) Plus many folks here have said they bought the record at the local record store. I've never seen it sold at any local record store here in Halifax. Not sure what to believe on the in store release. They said it was an exclusive 10club only vinyl release which seems very odd & strange. Can't remember if Easy Street Records were selling the vinyl the week after they went up for sale.

5000 makes sense. I have no idea where the 2000 came from. Maybe just cause Benny was pressed to 2000 someone believed they also pressed 2000 Avocado records. lol. ST records weren't even numbered. For such a short release for a Pearl Jam studio release on vinyl? Just 2000? Let's be real. :/ Just check out the latest Mystery Vinyl sale. They still have 40-50 copies for just this event. We have no idea how many will be left @ the warehouse.
