Just announced the Rolling Stones to play at the indianapolis motor speedway in the infield on July 4th 2015. Sounds like they are looking for an opening act. I wonder if pearl jam would ever consider such a thing. Those two paired together could bring more than 100k!

They changed the law. No need to punish the people of Indiana. There are bigots in every state.

It would unbelievable to see PJ open for the Stones. The venue would suck but would be a great time.

Pearl Jam should just open for every band that's touring this summer.

Changed the law, which means the law is pointless. Maybe they should stop letting bigots write laws. Btw, There are still no legal protections for lgbt.

As a LONG time Indy 500 fan,
I've been going to THE RACE at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway since the late 70's.
I'm kind of up in the air about seeing a Stones show there,
Especially with the layout of the stage,
and how they are only using parking lots behind Tower Terrace for the concert!!
    image
    Looking at the stage layout...
the fans that buy the Bronze tickets are going to be pretty far from the stage...
and even most of the silver tickets won't have a very good view!!
You can check out more info on the show at IMS here if you're interested:
    http://www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com/at-the-track/rolling-stones-at-ims
I'm surprised they aren't using any of the Grandstands for this show AT ALL,
the frontstretch of IMS seems like a perfect place to do an "In The Round" show!!
EDIT: Just a little parking tip for those thinking about doing the show at the Speedway...
I would pass on buying the PREMIER parking!!
It may get you closer, but if it's anything like raceday at IMS,
the folks parking in the infield will be waiting a LONG time to get out of the racetrack!!

I'd prefer if the Rolling Stones opened for PJ.
I don't like the Rolling Stones at all, but I would at least probably not skip that opener. =)

I just don't understand why anyone would want to see a show in a parking lot at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway...
I'd much rather see PJ out at Deer Creek or whatever they are calling now!!

They opened for the Stones in Pittsburgh back in 05. Ed sang "Wild Horses" with them during their set.

    Et tu, you two?! ;)

Agree with the comments about shunning the state ultimately fucking with the good open-hearted people of Indiana.

(also, could see Richards and McCready having a blast jamming together)

  • July 4th Wrigley open for "The Dead" even tho I don't think P J should open for anybody, they're the best live band I've ever seen, that being said that would be one show I wouldn't miss.

I took it as boycott idiots instead of boycotting Indiana. I hope that was the intention.
  • There's no need to boycott a state with such good people that like a band that plays bad ass music. Bring pj back to indiana
  • I don't see it happening to begin with and certainly not after their shitty law. I think PJ is past the point where they would open for the Stones. Been there done that. Just based on how short they've gotten to doing their own touring, I don't think they would open for anyone at this point unless it was a house of blues charity show etc. But not to draw more people to a 100,000 person show or whatever it is. Could be wrong of course.

Phoenix was scheduled and then boycotted during the backspacer tour over the anti illegal immigration law passed by Arizona. It was a bad law that tried to require legal immigrants to have to carry their papers at all times or it would be a crime. It also was going to make it legal for the cops to pull over or stop an hispanic person just because they had brown skin. Luckily the supreme court stopped most of it. Point is don't put it past them to boycott. We did get the show in 2013 so hopefully another area doesn't lose a show over a stupid law PJ fans had nothing to do with.

    My poor state....
Unfortunately, the AZ legislature has an annual ritual of creating laws that lead to good live music passing on Phoenix and Tucson stops.
I hadn't heard of a canceled 09 Phoenix stop, either.

From the looks of it, they are boycotting the US this year.

But if you want to boycott a state and judge a large population harshly and be intolerant, go ahead. If only there was a law put in place that could do that ...

Saw a interview with the stones saying they might play into oct/nov and hit South America, maybe the TBD SA Dates will be Opening for the stones...
