Your Top 10 favorite Punk/Hardcore records and bands.

I'm curious if there are any other punk and hardcore fans. To keep this interesting only bands and albums before 1995 so we can include the second and third wave of bands that came around. Compilation albums are ok too but no best of. So Crass' Best before 84 is a no go.

You can have band and not name an album if you want!

Enjoy!!!

    In no particular order…

Flex your head. Dischord compilation. This album changed my life.
The Meatmen. We're the Meatmen and you suck!
    The Dead Kennedy's. Frankenchrist.
    The Misfits. Walk Among Us.
Give Them Back. Compilation. Introduced Spitboy and Bikini Kill.
    GBH. Charged.
    Badbrains. Pay to cum.
Judge. Bringin' it down. The only post Minot Threat straight edge I would listen to…
    Minor Threat. Anything
Vision of Disorder. Demo 93'. When hearing this I was blown away. Too bad they never became bigger.

punk is definitely my favorite genre, but before 95 I just don't like or know as much.
Social distortion is my second favorite band after pearl jam.
Rancid's "out come the wolves" is one of my favorites of all time.
The worst of times..they don't phase me,
even if I look and act really crazy.

    Social D is pre 95! :-)

I'm curious then as to what other Punk bands you like since they are post 95? I dug Blink, UL, DHC, Save Ferris, Refused just to name a few.

Not all hard core but these are my favorites:

    Bad Brains
    Black Flag
    The Clash
    The Damned
    Fugazi
Hüsker Dü (if your a fan and haven't checked out Bob Mould's newest, Beauty and Ruin you'll want to soon!)
    Minor Threat
    Minutemen
    Mission of Burma
    New York Dolls
    Ramones
The Replacements (one of my all time top favorites included here because their early stuff was somewhat punk)
    Rites of Spring
    Rollins band
    Sex Pistols
    Patti Smith
    Television

And not always considered legit punk but assuming we're allowed a guilty pleasure and despite the fact that many hard core fans hate these guys and will consider this culturally incorrect:

    Green Day

P.S. Sorry, I'm bad with numbers, haha!

Since getting married and having kids I don't get to check out as much new stuff as I'd like to.
I like all ranges of punk, from hardcore: Ramallah and Give up the Ghost (american nightmare)
to the wimpier Bright Eyes and Blue October.
My tastes lie mostly somewhere in between though with the likes of:
    Dropkick Murphys
    Alkaline Trio
    Bouncing Souls
    Cursive
    Flogging Molly
    Gogol Bordello
    Transplants
    Rancid
    Social D
    Strung Out

Social D are my favorite, though they seem to have lost a little bit live.
Gogol Bordello are the best live.
Almost anything Tim Armstrong is involve in I like, he has a solo album "this poets life"
    that is really good.
Cursive is the only on my list I haven't seen live.

Agreed and looking forward too it. I think the majority of today's metalcore/hardcore bands owe a some level of gratitude to them. I'm sure you have, but check out Imprint . . . imo their best work.

Really getting back into Bouncing Souls, so good.

Sorry to bend the time frame a little with mine but being that I am a 90's kid it was easier to include some newer ones. For the most part I included earlier bands though.

    The Distillers - Coral Fang
    Fugazi - Repeater
    Germs - (GI)
The Adicts - Sound Of Music
    Misfits - Famous Monsters
Dead Kennedys - Bedtime for Democracy
The Vandals - Peace Thru Vandalism
    Suicidal Tendencies - Lights....Camera.....Revolution
Dead End Lane - Dead End Lane (local current MD horror punk)
    Guttermouth - Eat Your Face

Thanks! I'll check out some of the stuff I'm not familiar with. Same for everyone's input here. Good thread!

Yeah, good noise/punk band from S.F. Not my favorite but I like their punk attitude. Here they are with Krist Novovselic helping out:

I'm not huge into punk, but I am in love with Fugazi. So Fugazi x 10.

I can't believe that Flipper did a reunion tour… That's just sad. The raw footage of them from back in the day is awesome, this? Not so much...

Ever try Egghead or Pailhead? You'll see the breadcrumb trail. :-)

How about Slant 6, Nation of Ulysses, Born Against, Converge, Ty Seagall, The Oh Sees?

These are all bands I totally dig.

That Tim Armstrong album with the Agrolites is phenomenal! I really wish he would do another one.
