poem: begin

(part I)

her hair a morning warming sky
opening like this
eyes becoming widened
turquoise lyrics holding white clouds are windows
fluttering feathers wrote on up against ribbons & pages

she
warm to sunlight coming in
trading with what i feel
reaching over just holding on
where just below plants begin off trail
a higher place begins
heartbeats

having dreams hope like rain
she is always there
a candle rising or closed
prayers answered
from now on we are home like this
gardens winter or in heat
seed birdfeed painted glass tulips chime closer

day or night dancers
stars hold up fence posts
simple jewels gathered in touch
never leaves

"Hear me, my chiefs!
I am tired; my heart is
sick and sad. From where
the sun stands I will fight
no more forever."
