I love my hummers too and always have the feeder full, but I have never taken a pic as good as these.
The feeders always have 4 spots but the dominant ones protect the feeder and mercilessly persecute the other males (for the females, it's "come and sip my nectar, baby"). The only time I have ever seen more than one bird at the feeder at one time was a couple of years ago when we had a prolonged snowy/frozen patch in January. I did my best to keep warm syrup in the feeder to keep them alive, and when I would put out fresh warm syrup in the morning there were some times when all four posts were filled. They could put aside their animosity when they were close to freezing to death, but as soon as they were warmed up then the rivalry began again.
my small self... like a book amongst the many on a shelf
