Anyone hear this speech given by the Afghan President?

Heard it today. He was well spoken. Want to hear what you guys have to say before I really comment.

On my phone so not going to do decent search for the text or audio but here is an article about it

How could that possibly be your takeaway from the article? Ghani just got Obama to put a halt to the withdrawal. Clearly Ghani is more in line with the republicans that want a continued presence.

Did you listen to the speech? Seek it out rather than blurbs in a news article. If you do, bear in mind some of the gop rhetoric over afghanistan while speaks.

I did listen. He thanked McCain and Lindsey Graham by name. Still not sure how that was your take away from the speech.

As I heard it, the high praise for Obama and his policies in regards to Afghanistan was also a rebuke to the GOP. I think McCain and Graham were mentioned because they were the most vocal critics of Obamas plan.
You know the guy did get a dig in at Graham when he said he told Graham ,being in uniform as a captain , should salute an Afghan General.

So yeah to these ears high praise for Obama was a big fuck you to the gop.

The high praise for Obama is just the cost of doing business. Ghani wanted a continued presence and praised Obama to get it. Anyone really reading between the lines can see that.

Was always going to be a continued presence. Was the offer put forth by us to begin with. Bush installed a president who played both sides and balked at the terms.
