Danny Clinch "Wall of Sound" NYC Exhibit
Made it this weekend to NYC for a photo exhibit I'd been dying to see since it opened: Danny Clinch's "Wall of Sound" photo exhibit at the Milk Gallery in NYC (near Chelsea Market, 15th St. & 9th Ave). It is AWESOME! Just being a PJ fan is reason enough to go, since there are some great shots of them, but if you're an all around music fan, it's amazing how he develops enough of a relationship with artists that he can snap them in moments that are just so very "normal" they actually seem extraordinary.
But probably the coolest part, also PJ-related (and you can see how Danny and Ed & Jack Johnson vibe on surfing), there is a surfboard that he partnered with a famous surfboard maker (name escaping me), it has rock photos imprinted on one side, and the other side is all setlists (including multiple PJ ones, Neil Young, Springsteen, and more). It's really really cool how it came out!
So in case you didn't know and can see it, I think it's up until 4/3, it's free, and it's awesome. Really some great unusual shots. Enjoy if you go!

P.s. Just about every shot is in "Still Moving" btw, although there are some snapshots on the "Wall of Sound" itself (it's an actual wall in the exhibit) that are not, and then there's a whole new side theme "Motor Drive" I think is what it's called, and it's artists in their cars, and not all of those are in Still Moving either, since Motor Drive is now its own book (also for sale at the exhibit).0

Mite check this out, thanks for posting0

I actually checked it out yesterday. Very enjoyable. Was going to pre-order his Motor Drive book because I like anything with a motor (plus music). However, the price was pretty steep at $500.
Danny is going to be there for an Artist Talk on Wed. 7:30-9:30pm. Need to RSVP to the Milk Gallery.0 -
Any link/email for the artist talk you speak of @fanofzs? I can't find any unfortunately.
I stopped by the gallery opening night and shared a few random thoughts here: http://www.sachynmital.com/2015/03/danny-clinch-walls-of-sound/ . I had planned to go back again so the talk will be a good reason to!Post edited by smital on0 -

Ah, I meant I couldn't find info about the talk specifically but if it's just the general email, I'll send to that. Thanks!0

There was only (that I'm aware of) a small poster on top of the merchandise table in the gallery. I asked about it and confirmed he was going to be there. They just ask to RSVP to have an idea of attendance.smital said:Ah, I meant I couldn't find info about the talk specifically but if it's just the general email, I'll send to that. Thanks!

I'm planning on this as well. Some historic Rock photographers!
The Danny Clinch Artist Talk had a nice turnout. He really seemed to enjoy the event as well. He signed my Immagine the Cornice DVD which was cool. Wrote " Got Me A Big Wave ~" on it as well.0 -

Ooooooh it HURTS to miss this!!! The lineup overall is AWESOME! How cool to hear them all on one panel! Hurts hurts hurts, but adult status sucks sometimes (as opposed to carefree "if I can afford the bus ticket, I can get there even if it takes 8 hrs each way!" days...)...0 -
Well it seems to be waitlist only/sold out now! Maybe they will record it.0
