Thinking this too. Have an opportunity to work one of their shows, and I hear they are great.

"You In Reverse" and "There Is No Enemy" are both excellent. I actually don't love their other stuff, but those two albums are really good.

Just listening to this album now - thanks for the recommendation you guys. I've listened to songs by Built to Spill here and there randomly, but never a full album or anything. Not sure about the rest of their stuff, but You In Reverse is solid.

Perfect from now on and keep it like a secret are great in tandem and I believe they were at their creative height during this time frame.

I just traded "Keep it like a Secret" in to my local record store.
Love the record but I just don't listen to it much anymore.
agree with you that this was their best period.

    Killer. Great show.

I gave You in Reverse a spin last night. Pretty cool. Really love the longer jams within the songs. I'm going to listen to it a few more times before checking out another one.

their LIVE album is a very good introduction though it does not include any of their 2000's output.
    if you want proper albums:
Keep it Like a Secret is a really easy one to fall in love with
Perfect from Now On is also stellar
I actually like You in Reverse and Things Fall Apart next about the same

I'll go ahead and echo others' recommendation of 'Keep it Like a Secret', such a good opening 4 song run, and I'd play 'Else' daily in my house if my fiancé didn't constantly say "they're too whiney." :)

But man, can't believe no one has mentioned 'There's Nothing Wrong with Love'. C'mon, indie classic!!
