Pretty sweet!
I was whining when they didn't release this on vinyl when it came out on CD... I guess I wasn't the only one..... Not even sure I can afford it, lol, but it's cool they decided to release it.

Don't worry this will be half-off, by next year. Just like the Superunknown re-issue. Fuck picture discs!

True, I was thinking the same thing.... has anyone ever had a picture disc that actually sounded good though? Is it possible?

    $140 wowzers...

im so fucking annoyed by the price of vinyl. $20-$25 tops for an album. i realize this is a special release but cmon its still way over priced imo. $50 for superunknown? fuck that.... cd /mp3 cheaper.
    sorry for rant

Yeah. although a 6 disc boxset is pretty big... I'm not too surprised about the price for something like this (better deal than the $50 Superunknown anyway!). Not that I can afford it either way!

When I saw the email for this, before I even clicked on the link and saw the price, I knew it was going to be ridiculously expensive. What happened to them just releasing the originals on vinyl? Of course that would probably be $50 too.

They did release the originals on vinyl... and yes, the latest one was $50.
I just don't think this price is unexpected for a boxset like this. I just paid the same amount for a 4 album Neil Young boxset... worth every penny, and that was only 4 discs (but yeah, I don't get why this release is on picture disc).

If PJ put out a "Lost Dogs 2" boxset with 6 LP's for $140, we wouldn't be able to throw our money at them fast enough.

I wasn't referring to Superunknown on vinyl but the first CD of Echo of Miles called "Originals". In the liner notes of the CD set it was mentioned that the Originals disc would be out on vinyl at some point.

I'm talking about a standalone release just like there was a single CD version of it.

    Oh I see.
Well.... Soundgarden seems intent on squeezing every penny they can out of their fans these days, so this format was probably how they figured they could screw us most efficiently.

I was just thinking this. They keep releasing their box sets in cd format months before the vinyl edtion, with ZERO mention of an upcoming vinyl release, so now there are many (not me) who will end up having to buy this TWICE. that's just not cool at all.

Yeah, you know, it's actually starting to turn me off the current-day band a bit (it didn't help that the King Animal show that I saw SUCKED)..... But I'm still crossing my fingers for a truly good album next time they release one.

    what was bad about it?

    Where do I start? Lol.
The main problem was the fault of their sound crew. The vocals were almost indecipherable for most of the show, the guitars were completely muddled. The ONLY decent sounding thing was Matt's drumming, just because it was so loud that you could actually hear them. It was so notably bad, yet the crew and the band just kept on going. And this was at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, so the venue definitely was not at fault. My friends were sitting immediately behind the soungboard, and it sounded even worse to them than it did to me in row 5, apparently.
They absolutely should have stopped the show and fixed the problem, but they decided to just keep going, and ruined the whole thing. Not only that, but the backdrop curtain was malfunctioning for the entire show, slowly opening and closing in front of the back screen graphics, lol, so that was SUPER stupid looking and distracting. Finally, the band just acted like they didn't even want to be there, Chris Cornell especially (and excluding Matt). This may have been because of the fucked up sound, but that just serves as more reason for them to have sorted the problems out instead of subjecting us to possibly the worst show the band ever did. The poor crowd... we tried SO hard to be into the show... but it was impossible.

Not at all. The he even slipped in a little comment that really pissed me off, lol. Near the beginning of the show he made some comment about how "we" didn't have a GA pit, as though somehow that was OUR fault, and we should have one... which of course was entirely up to the band when they booked the venue! They will take 6 rows of seats out for a GA pit at that venue, and obviously HIS people chose not to or forgot to do that, and then he fucking comments about it as though the crowd or maybe Vancouverites were lame for not having a pit. That really rubbed me the wrong way, while I'm standing there fucking stuck in a row of seats barely able to move next to some unfriendly solo fat guy who wouldn't share his weed with me, lol!

LOL! weed is MEANT for sharing! bastard!

Hugh Dillon did that very same thing at a Headstones show back in 95 or so when they opened for the Watchmen at Winnipeg Stadium. He started bitching at the crowd for it being all seats on the floor of the stadium they were playing. So then I guess he realized he was being a dick, so he got the crowd to get rid of the chairs! they had to have a longer intermission after the headstones played so the crew could put the chairs back on the field. but then during the watchmen, the crowd got rid of them again!

"They absolutely should have stopped the show and fixed the problem, but they decided to just keep going, and ruined the whole thing."

You nailed it. I was at this show as well and I have never heard such bad sound in my life. Especially when you consider the amazing venue. Such a drag as the set list was amazing and you could tell the crowd was really into it, for a song or two, but then the life was sucked right out of the room. I would much rather have put up with a 30 minute delay, even an hour, to get the sound right. Brutal.
