2015 Fantasy Baseball Sleepers

hey Baseball fans.
I'm in a 12 team fantasy baseball league ($300/person) I won it 2 years ago but slipped last season after making stupid 2am drunken trades (e.g McCutch for Carlos Cargo and CL Robertson)

Anyway, I'm going to do my best to avoid stupid trades and take it seriously. As you might know, titles are won by steals you find in the mid to late rounds.

Do you see any potential sleepers? Thanks.

Not really a sleeper, but I expect Anthony Rizzo to have a monster year.

    I love Rizzo but he's someone's Keeper :/
  • I have a feeling this is finally the year Bryce Harper hits super stardom. I've seen people are down on him but they seem to forget he is only 21 years old. His numbers to this point are better than Miggy's were to age 21. Not really a sleeper but Zimmerman is a FA after this season and just went through an offseason of trade rumors. I can see him being the top Nationals pitcher by the end of the year as a FU as he leaves. Matt Cain also says he feels great and could resume his previous work horse status for the Giants. I could see him with 15 wins and a 3 ERA. Of course he could also be the Cain of the last 2 seasons with a mid 4 era that gives up wayyy to many taters so he would qualify as a deep sleeper.

Its tough in keeper and dynasty leagues. I am in two dynasty leagues, so I most players are snagged well in advance. Let see though.

SP: Taijuan Walker (SP, Seattle), Dan Duffy (KC > I really think he could have a great year), Marcus Stroman and Daniel Norris (Toronto), Matt Moore (Tampa > should be back in June), Carlos Martinez (STL), Dallas Keuchel (Houston), Carlos Rondon (WS Prospect), Jonathan Gray (Rockies Prospect), Joe Kelly (RS > Boldly predicted he would win the Cy Young...haha), Derek Holland (Texas > coming back from injury, but pitched great when he came back briefly in 2-14)

RP: Aaron Sanchez (Toronto > could close), Brad Boxberger (TB)

    1B: Kenny Vargas (Minnesota)
2B: Mookie Betts is eligible and dropping in drafts due to uncertainty of playing time, Arismendy Alcantara (Cubs)
    SS: Xander Bogharts (RS)
3B: Obviously Kris Bryant is a well known commodity now, not really sure with 3B
OF: Joc Pederson (Dodgers), Rusney Castillo (RS), Gregory Polanco (Pittsburgh), Will Myers (major upside and bound to rebound > dropping in drafts)

Its really tough to predict, especially with the service time issue with prospects. I usually watch closely as the beginning of each season to see who is trending upwards (Like Garret Richards last year).

Obviously some of these guys are "super sleepers" but may fall to the 15th or 16th rounds if and if you see that I would snag them.

    Hope it helps.

Also, I hate to say it, but AROD could be a decent sleeper this year too. Could be worth a late round flyer

True, but in the 25th round of a draft, why not take the risk? Who knows what AROD is going to bring to the table this year. You can hate him, but will like him much more if he becomes 3B, 1B, eligible, hits 20 bombs, and puts you in a position to contend in fantasy.

Agreed. He was my first pick last year in both my dynasty leagues. Now I am getting trade offers right and left. Problem is Yahoo already has him ranked 137 and he hasn't even played in the majors yet. He will be a stud when he gets here, but someone will probably pull the trigger on him way before that due to the success/hype he has received. With his inevitable delayed call up due to service time its a tough call in non-keeper leagues, but in keeper/dynasty leagues I would absolutely invest in him and draft him early. Not really a sleeper at this point though.

A guy with similar power is Joey Gallo (Texas), but probably won't come up until late 2015 or early 2016

In one of my 6 man keeper leagues, I'm kept in him over guys like gio Gonzalez and melky Cabrera

I would have done the same thing. If his power translates the same way to the minors he could be as valuable as Stanton. Monster trade bait too (but you're a cubs fan so doubt you would trade him).

    Thanks for the breakdown Jervin
  • Chase Headley could have a decent 20-30 homers playing a full year at Yankee stadium barring injuries. Probably won't hit .300 at this point in his career but if you're looking for a little power, he will probably be around later on.

Very true. He is definitely worth a risk. Had a few very good years, but is now isn't highly touted in fantasy. Definitely could surprise people

I have a feeling Jason Kipnis is due for a bounce back season. He did very well for me 2 seasons ago but he pressed to much in his contact year last season.
