"Painted Footprints"

"Painted Footprints"
The sun rampages through the
Cloudy blanketed sky above
Bits and pieces splattered like
Paint on canvas or on a wall
Modern day fresco
Oil and tempera on plaster
My footprints left behind
Paint-trail flowing outwardly
Leading me to your heart
Only to be defeated again
It's a fight I cannot win
A struggle that lives within
My heart beating like pulsating
Rays of sunlight penetrating
Through the clouds and on
To earth's surface
Sometimes I see what I don't want to
But I know somehow
There is a waterfall out there
Somewhere in between
My lust and my desire
Between the lines of my face
Yet I look outward
At a path carved out
By an angry sun
Shattering and penetrating
Battered bones and skulls piled high
Until there’s no more day
No more idea where to go
Footprints in a linear perspective
Painted in red and blue
Leading outward to their vanishing point
From me to you
Until I walk no longer
I stand still in a stance
Contrapposto reminiscent
Of an Ancient Greece
Once not too long ago
Where they did grow
In the field, in the meadows
A masthead of a sinking ship
Going down down down
Water’s force brings any door down
Ice shattering and screaming
Bring that ship down
To where my feet start and the
Earth ends
