best version of 1/2 Full?

Alright, lay it on me. I've maintained for years that 7/11/03 is the definitive version. It's tight, Ed sounds good, and Mike is just killing it.

Odds are any serious contender will be from '03. I've seen some good ones since that tour, but '03 was definitely the best tour for the song.

Give me your best. What version should I check out? I own the whole '03 tour...any underrated gems in there?

(Do not just say "xx/xx/xxxx because I was there and you just had to be there" - that doesn't help...it has to be a version that really kicks ass on bootleg too).

Lay it on me.

I absolutely loved the version at Penn State that year. The audience interaction with ed was amazing. Love the jam/Mikey was on fire.
I've really been into 1/2 full from phoenix 2013; Ed gets real pissed in the middle of it which is really sweet. Mikey and stone nail the jam at the middle and end.
The 7/11/03 version is definitely kick ass!

To my half full reminds me of porch...extended jam and lots of audience interaction.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me......

I really like the Easy Street version.. It has the raw club sound. I also like Philly 1 from 2013. It has an extended intro solo by Mike.

I checked out Philly '13 the other day. Good, but not stellar version. Always love a good Mikey-behind-the-head solo.

  • I don't like the Philly 2013 version all that much. The beginning is nice as mentioned, but I don't get that heavy feel which is there in the 2003 tour. The song should pack a punch. I also feel Eddie isn't super, not bad, but he doesn't sell it.
I like the Rotterdam 2009 version. Not because I was there, but because it has the power I mis in the Philly version. That being said it isn't perfect, especially near the end. Still this version gets me.
Another thing I like about it is the fact that Eddie seems to be in connection with the lyrics.
As a contender from 2003 I'd like to propose the Dallas version. The start is super heavy coming from the feedback leading up to 1/2 Full. Eddie has a nice bark a times and he really seems to mean what he is singing about.
St. Johns in 2005 is a version that works for me. It's not as intense as the 2003 versions, but I like Eddie's singing at the end.
It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me.

No problem. I always find it hard to listen to the same song more than a few times and keep concentrated. But I'll keep my ear out to nice 1/2 Full versions.

I've been lucky enough to have that bad boy dropped in my lap 3 times in 8 relatively recent shows ...I love that song.

My choice of those shows is Montreal 09072011 with a "Whoaaa..." intro during the high hats, Mikey flat out standing on it and a super nice WTF. After it ends, Ed introduces us all to Michael Mc Fuckin' Cready.

    Phoenix 2013 is good too.

I don't like the mixes from 2009-2010, and the Spectrum shows were pretty sloppy. But I've always liked the version from Spectrum 2. Ed's really into it, Matt's pummeling the kit.

1/2 Full live is so much better than the studio version. Studio version feels neutered.

Studio version has a cool vibe to it...as does the video promo version.
