Is the 2005 Canadian run the best of all time?

These shows are off the fucking charts good. I'm very partial to the 94-95 cycle, but these shows are making me question that allegiance.

    The shows were excellent but 98 will always be number one for me. The 05 canadian tour had the same feel to 98: laid back and fun!

    2005 was amazing!! Maybe cause they played Atlantic Canada for the first time like EVER!!! B-)

    I hope their next Canadian tour they came back here on the East Coast. It would be pretty sweet if they play New Brunswick & Prince Edward Island. Canadian provinces that hasn't been Pearl Jam experienced! Just imagine seeing Pearl Jam play Magnetic Hill?

    Ottawa Black 2005 still has gotta be in consideration for best version ever.

    I was there, and it's a beast of a version for sure. The only thing that knocks it out of contention for best ever - Mike loses his way in the main solo before the quiet section. Had he ripped it up, this could be the best ever.

    The one thing we will never see again is a run like Kitchener, London and Hamilton. All within an hour of each other and two were at small venues. That's what made the 2005 tour special for me.

    There were some fairly average shows, like Montreal and Toronto. But that Ottawa show was one of the best I've ever been to.

    So many great memories of that tour...

    @mcgruff10 you're thinking of the '98 Barrie show.

    I was speaking with the Canadian promoter the band has been working with since '96 (at least) just prior to the PJ20 premiere in Toronto and the band's love for playing so many shows up here is a direct result of their relationship with said promoter. Without sounding like a total jackass I thanked him wholeheartedly for developing such a great relationship with the band which entices them to come back often.

    I've spoken to this promoter as well and he is a very decent guy. He was telling me in Saskatoon that the band loves the crowds in Canada and always have a great time, which is why they have started playing so many shows up North this past decade. Fingers crossed for many more cross-Canada shows in the future.

    Paul Mercs is the promoter and he's an awesome dude. The band and PM enjoy working together; the only way to do this is by touring Canada! He gets excited for shows just like the fans do.
    He was so honoured when Ed mentioned him on stage once. My memory is a little shaky - I can't remember which show it was (maybe Toronto '98?) because I have a stronger memory of his facial expression and tone of voice when he told me the story (which I've just come to realize was more than 10 years ago. Holy poop.) He was practically beaming.

    If you really want to thank Paul, get the man some freshly baked baklava. :)>-

    @rtwilli4 you completely misinterpreted

    @mcgruff10 I was at the '05 Quebec City show. I remember the crowd being loud enthusiastic, I remember Ed being completely hung over and drained from staying up late the night prior with members of U2 in Toronto, and I remember a few songs were cut from the setlist as a result. Did score Matt's sticks that night.
