There's a few other people going that mentioned it in the MMJ thread. It's hard to imagine this being better than last year but the lineup and activities they have set up make me think it will be.

We are! Wife and I are flying in Friday and staying in Playa del Carmen before heading to the hard rock on Saturday. After One Big Holiday we are going down to Tulum for 4 days! First time in Mexico, we are super excited!

Yeah, Dr. Dog is one of the better live bands you can see. Them and Band of Horses are can't miss acts.

I actually hagent caught TWOD yet even though they are always playing Philly but I'm hoping they deliver. I haven't been this excited for a week of concerts since the Spectrum shows.

Band of Horses is the one band I don't care about seeing. Have seen them ruin enough PJ songs. Haha. Will be nice to have a night off after Dr Dog's set.

I get in on Friday at noon. Really looking forward to this trip.

  • I can't get Michael McDonald out of my head since the Chris Cross opener. The second night was absolutely insane and the Smokin from Shootin and PWW versions were dirty.

The War on Drugs surprised me with how great their stage presence is... They are going to blow up this year, if they haven't already that is. And Dr. Dog and BOH kept it rocking last night.

Patrick (the drummer) was in one of the suites and you could see him just rocking out big time to Shame Shame from Dr. Dog. Just such an awesome vibe at this place and something I could never stand missing.

  • Another epic week down there. Early word through one of my contacts has it already confirmed at the Hard Rock in the Dominican Republic next year. Since this sold out that's the next step up... No clue how many more people it holds but it looks like this is going to be around for a while. And I am the happiest camper in the world about it.

I may have to make it next year
was it One Big Sausagefest or a good mix?

I had a few people tell me during the week that it's DR next year as well.

I have a feeling this festival is going to blow up next year.

Did you see michael mcdonald doing karaoke during the rock n roll bingo? that was some funny shit. especially warren g - regulate. haha

Tons of women... Good looking ones, too. I didn't leave empty handed and neither did my roomie, ha.

For me, this was the biggest surprise of the week. Other than pete carroll's horrid play call at the end of the sb
  • Glad you enjoyed BOH. And we were posted up right next to the DJ spot in the pool... I had the beer ammo vest on a few of the days, ha. But yeah at first I thought it was really Michael McDonald, that guy was awesome.

Not sure if you saw it, but during BOH's acoustic set there was a point during a jam in one of the songs where he just took a couple chugs of beer, lit a cig, laid back in his chair and put his hands behind his head and the leg cross just taking it all in with his head resting back... That just about sums up how great of a feeling the week was.

And yeah, the retention rate from last year has to be around like 70%. Out of the 13 or 14 people I knew who went last year, only 2 didn't come back and that's because they just had kids within the last month or so. Not one person there doesn't have an amazing time.

And yeah dude Chris was my roommate... Both there and back home in Manayunk right now. I had the crazy sunburn bc the one girl was too drunk putting it on my back on day one, haha.

I'm sure we ran into each other then at some point.

Yeah, listen to this guy. He was spot on with last year's review...agree with pretty much everything he said about it leading up to this year. Just a great time all around...I wouldn't change anything about the entire thing.
  • Man, it's nice to be told I'm actually right for once. If only everyone in my life thought this way, haha.

But yeah, I'm glad I was able to help spread the word. I'm looking forward to the boots. Last year I remember they came out on my bday, leap year. Well... I guess the 28th since there was no leap year.
