I've tried watching it a few times (mostly while waiting for the next show to start, lol), and just can't get into it. The whole "faux-documentary" style just doesn't appeal to me.

Am I the only person here who watches Hannibal, lol? I absolutely love that show, even with the liberties they've taken with the characters.

I read the first book the strain. I enjoyed the first 2/3 of it then I kind of lost interest.
I thought it was interesting though.

Oh, and LOUIS! So good! Who doesn't love Louis CK?? :) His show is really dark, but really sweet and touching and hilarious at the same time.

Good call. He gets forgotten about because it takes two years for him to make one season. But it's a great show. You have to have an odd sense of humor to appreciate it. It's well worth the time.

for me, I have pretty tight standards. I don't watch much at all.

So, my favorite television series(es) of all time. These don't fade at all as seasons move on.

    1. Breaking Bad
    2. Oz
    3. Mr Show with bob & David (best comedy of all time IMO)
    4. Futurama
    5. First 4-5 seasons of 24

Im going to give The Wire a try. I also hear House of Cards is good. I think the Walking Dead is OK... but a lot of filler and falls into/relies on the whole plod along for an episode or 2, then.... cliff hanger! formula too often.

Lost was good too... but it feels like the writers lost their hold on the direction and "neatness" of the plot. It seems like they were not banking on it to run as long as it did.

+1 for Futurama. I was actually going to mention that one but wasn't sure if cartoons were up for consideration. Futurama is sneaky. It looks like a dumb animation comedy but it has some seriously good writing. It's also the only show to make me weep uncontrollably over a cartoon dog. SEYMOUR!!!!!

I think OP might be into more serious type shows but I'll throw my favorite out there anyway: Doctor Who. It's gotten a bit ridiculous lately but like 2005-2012ish were better.

I'd also recommend Black Mirror. It's an anthology series so you don't actually have to watch it in order. The first two seasons (3 eps each) are on Netflix (US) and the first ep of the third season aired as a Christmas Special in the UK, it's on 4od still.

I usually like serious shows more, but Whose Line is it it Anyway with Drew Carey, I could watch over and over and over and never stop laughing. I had a girlfriend break-up with me and proclaim it was because I watched this too much. I just kept on laughing.
