rifle shots rang out in the night
coyotes howled… so desperate… at the loss of kin
rooster crowed… You ate my hen! You ate my hen!
whole world represented just outside my den…
tears flowed out… human attention to intervention
assumptions of intention continue to battle
atop the turrets of my mind
how can being human still be so unkind?
all ways looking to how we are wronged
suffering thoughts that make us so blind…
