What happened to the Improv?

I think PJ is better then ever live these days but one thing I really miss from the old days (Some early 90s, more mid 90s) are their crazy improvs. I've been listening to some old boots of late and they will just jam for a few minutes before a song even starts, or they will just go crazy mid to late song.
Yeah, different times but my god...some of those crazy jams really made those early tunes what they were.
I'm not complaining (as they really are better now) but I would really like to see them "loosen it up" a bit more now and just "go with the flow".

Anyone with me?

  • I agree, i would love to hear them bust out an improv every once in awhile, part of what made their early live shows so unpredictable and awesome.

Wow that is really funny, I was thinking about that about a month ago. I think they have had a few recently like Don't Drive Me and another one about a girl in Albany a few years ago.

There were quite a few in 00 and 03 that were good.

I caught the St Louis 03 one. Lyrics were all about driving. The song it segues into escapes me, but I remember it bein cool as hell. I wanna say RVM.

The one from Salzburg, Austria 2000 is my favorite. It's labeled as Going Home.
  • Really tough to beat the early IMPROVS

God, that energy and creativity was electric!!!!!

    Good question OP!!! :)
