Anyone been to Vietnam?

Hey guys, I just changed my annual February "get the Fuck out of Chicago" trip from Hawaii to Vietnam. I Just wanted to do something different this year and heard the culture is very special and decent surfing for a kook like me. I fly into Hanoi area for 6 days, then fly to Nha Trang for 5 days, then Ho Chi Ming city for 4 days. Any advice on reasonable clean places to stay, areas I must see, and any other sort of cool shit would be very much appreciated.

    mmm, Vietnamese food (minus the bug dishes).

    Funny how aside from the palate side, my associations with the place is mostly via visual media like Jacob's Ladder, China Beach, Heaven and Earth, and the like.

    Looks like a beautiful and soul-strong place.

    Sensual.

    On a whim, I googled "cool shit in Vietnam".

    Just saying :-D

    Great advice…..I always think of John Rambo when i think Vietnam, so if you don't hear from me for a month getting everyones panties in a bunch on these boards please call Rambo or Chuck Norris to come find me:)

    I am very, very, very ashamed to admit I have not seen the big lebowski. I suck.

    I didn't see it until a couple of years ago, after being repeatedly mocked by my husband for not having already done so (many other films fall into this category, too).

    Good movie.

    I think Anthony Bourdain recently did an episode on Vietnam for his "Parts Unknown" show on CNN, You can probably stream the episode on CNN's website or watch it on YouTube.

    No but I was watching that Hunt for Bigfoot show on the discover channel and they were in Vietnam. Two of the three Vietnamese guys were laughing at the other guy because he said he hid when he saw because he was scared. If you run into him in your travels, don't call him Little Foot. He doesn't like that.
