Mike may not be the most technically proficient, or the fastest-fingered guitarist to ever roam the confines, but just listening to him is proof enough; the emotion is unfettered live; the interpretaion ever-evolving.....

:-D

amazing how often the saratoga 00 show comes up, cuz it was awesome. And my first show :) what a way to kick off my touring career.

In My Tree from saratoga 00 arguably one of the best versions ever.
Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?

Yeah, it's fucking awe-inspiring in my book; wish I could have been there.

He plays better than me ;)
  • Mike M. is one of the most exciting guitar players I have ever seen. One thing that is often overlooked about him is just how well he plays with and plays off of Stone. Playing with another guitar player in the band, and sometime two, when Eddie plays, is not always simple. Stone is not a strict 'rhythm guitarist', either. He does a lot of interesting riffs and one and two note things instead of straight chords that are a challenge to play off of. Mike is always up to that challenge. Being a vintage guitar freak myself, I also love the great guitars he has on hand to play at every show. I find that part of the fun. We are lucky, as PJ fans to have Mike around.
  • i was just reading an old RS at the dentist and its a travesty that he didn't even make the rolling stone 100 greatest guitarists, when the guitarist from my bloody valentine did. but then again all rolling stone lists are chock full of similar travesties

  • Amen to that Piper at the gates! Mike is an unbelievable guitarist, just gives me goosebumps all the time! We are indeed damn lucky people to listen and see Mike perofm master-pieces everytime! He really is the "MAN" :D

bloody valentine's guitarist on the RS list and NOT Mike? Wow and I thought I've seen everything! Anyway RS is bullshit....

  • The solo from Black on Live on two Legs is mezmerizing...just unbelievable!

They acknowledged this in the Pearl Jam album review, and in February of this year or last, when they did their living "Guitar Gods" list, they called Mike and Stone "Pearl Jam's Four Armed Monster."
